yawn....you done? Should I get a ladder to help bring you down? and by the way "scrub" is an interesting way to describe a player who has put up 30 points or more since 2001. But hey I guess your the hockey guru right? I mean its not as if anybody should challenge your knowledge or your opinion of how this organization could improve itself. Holy Marbles Robin! I think Norris might be a little touchy when someone else has a thought.....shhhh shhhhh But hey I think its cool that as a Mod you go around and post posts with negitivity towards other posters, great way to like not abuse power or be an arse ya know.

You want to have an intelligent conversation? Learn this: people are going to disagree with you, especially on the internet. Your trade idea was awful and someone called you on it - big deal. Pissing and moaning and making a scene doesn't help your case at all.

I must have been reversing their salary figures.

Regardless, I would pay 1.8 for Salei.

I don't know if I would even pay 1m for Witt.

I'd take Witt, because he would bring an edge to Detroit that Salei won't.

My point is that Witt is too high priced for what he would bring.

You could spend the league minimum and get the same contributions of toughness, and not much of a different defensive game.

Salei might not be the enforcer Witt can be..but he is a MUCH better player. And he's still a pretty tough and gritty player. It's not like he's Dandy or something.

I'd have to disagree. I believe Witt is the missing link. Salei isn't soft, but he wouldn't make a huge difference either.

Well if Witt and Salei aren't your cup of tea: Backchecking: Last line of defence

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that the Wild, facing the prospect of both Manny Fernandez and Dwayne Roloson leaving as unrestricted free agents, might be interested in acquiring a goaltending insurance policy.  At the same time the St. Paul Pioneer Press suggests that some of the Wild's pending free agent defencemen, like Willie Mitchell, Filip Kuba, Andrei Zyuzin and Daniel Tjarnqvist might be on the move.

Oh pretty, pretty please Holland? He's not particularly nasty, but he brings size, strength and solid one-on-one ability. Willie isn't exactly going to be an enforcer for us, but he's not exactly a stranger to dropping the gloves either. And at only a million bucks, he wouldn't be a bad deal at all.

Witt is the missing link, huh?

So you felt the Wings were primed and in position for the Cup before Fischer went down, then?

Because Witt would bring an edge, but he would not make up for Fischer.

You're probably right. There's very few defenceman that can replace Fischer's size and speed on the blueline that are in our price range.

Brendan Witt would, however, bring an element to the Wings that we are currently in need of, whether he's the missing link or not. Grit on the blueline is a bit of a problem (though Kronwall really helps), and I just don't think it makes sense to not replace a top four defenceman like Fischer with another top four defenceman.

Besides Witt, Salei, and Mitchell, who else could be available? Keeping in mind we're in the market for a stay at home type D-man who likes to hit and stand up for his teamates. Or at least I think we're in the market for a guy like this anyways.

Witt brings an element this team is sorely lacking, maybe more so than Fischer did. He will not replace Fischer's overall game. The team has improved a lot since Babcock took over. They play tighter on defense and with more intensity upfront. If Detroit could land Witt I'd feel they'd improve their chances even further.

I still say that we'd be giving up way to much for Witt, and Witt is getting old anyways.

I'd rather go with the young defensman that we have in the minors, and see how they do, and if a trade is needed, then Holland will make one.
