high_stick69 7 Report post Posted February 5, 2006 I was searching some rosters and looking for players I thought would really be nice additions for the Wings for the playoff run, or after this season, when a few players may retire, or be replaced. I thought some good matches might include Jason Arnott, Olli Jokinen, Jamie Langenbrunner, Glen Murray, Ales Kotalik, Brenden Morrow, Jere Lehtinen, Ryan Smyth, Brian Rolston, Alexi Kovalev (if he could stay healthy), Scott Hartnell, Shane Doan, Frederik Modin,...maybe these all seem like no-brainers, and you would say "Yeah, just look at the All Star Game roster and say they'd be a good Wing." I guess my point is that they could use another skilled power forward who can bring the physical presence the wings are seeming to lack. I'm not saying I'm unhappy with the make up of the team, but the playoffs are a tough grind, and having a beefy vet that can put the biscuit in the basket, maybe on a line with Lang and Shanahan, or Yzerman and Shanahan would be mint. Having one more weapon of that type IMO would put the Wings head and shoulders above the rest of the league. They are obviously near the top now, but who knows what the hitting of the playoffs will bring...What guys would you like to see on the wings that may be free agents at season's end, or are attainable with the cap situation? CupCrazy22 6 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 Well from the names you listed there are only a couple that will probably if at all traded as most of the players play on playoff bound teams and are considered an important part of their team.
high_stick69 7 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 You are certainly right about that.... how many will be free agents at the end of the season? With some potential retirements, there may be some holes to fill....Isn't this FA period supposed to be similar to last?

Heaton 1 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 I really don't see the Wings getting Witt, someone will end up overpaying for him.
RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 Personally, I think Parrish could help this team. He's not big or aggressive, but he's willing and able to score from in front of the net. Closest thing to an Kenny Holland type of player that I'd actually want. I'd love to get Witt or Rivet from Barnesy's list. I think Holland could target either Salei, Kuba, Zyuzin, Weinrich, Carney or perhaps even Dandenault.

Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 If the Isles are looking to sell I wonder if Arron Asham is available. I'd love for the Wings to get him..
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 Fredrik Modin is money on the Wings. Modin-Zetterberg-Samuelsson. Please try and contain yourselves. Fredrik Modin, although probably untradeable, would be one of the best fits for the Red Wings. He isnt a huge star, but he is 6'4 and uses his size like no one on the wings does now, with the exception of Kronwall. He does exactly what you ask of him, plays a hard gritty game, and performed very well in last years playoffs. I know hes just one more Swede, but he doesn't play the typical Swedish game while still being skilled. Williams, Hudler and a 2nd.
fatcat6 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2006 I like the ideas, but with the salary cap and all, none of those players are possible to get here in Detroit this year. They would help out the team though.
