Barnes52 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 "As for the Wings, expect them to make a deal for a defenseman. It'll be a low-priced, veteran, stay-at-home guy, in the mold of a Bob Rouse, Jamie Macoun, Jiri Slegr. With Kronwall back, they feel they have enough offensive-minded, puck-moving defensemen. They could use someone with size and abrasiveness. The problem is, a lot of teams are looking for those kind of players at the deadline. And the Wings aren't prepared to give up much. Jamie Rivers, who hasn't played since Dec. 23., is available. But they won't part with any regular from their lineup and it's doubtful they would relinquish a high draft pick." My answers: Craig Rivet Sheldon Souray Rusan Salei Matt Walker Brendan Witt Cale Hulse Luke Richardson Thoughts?
Asia13 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 No offense or anything but how reliable Ansar Khan..nver heard bout him. Love to have Witt, Souray, Salei, Rivet. But what would it take to aquire these type of players? a pick+prospect mayb?
Hatcher#2 13 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 My first choice would be Witt but i think too many other teams are interested aswell and he could prove to be too expensive for the Wings. So i would like to get Matt Walker, a solid young D man that could be signed to a long term deal in Detroit.
Heaton 1 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 We're not getting Witt, I'm 100% positive.
Hatcher#2 13 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 We're not getting Witt, I'm 100% positive. Yeah i agree, thats why i would like Walker, He's younger, bigger, tougher and a hell of a lot cheaper. IMO.
StaticWithABeat 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 (edited) We're not getting Witt, I'm 100% positive. Yeah, the demand for Witt seems to be quite high. Whoever lands him is going to be giving up something a lot more substantial than Jamie Rivers. Souray is overrated, overpaid, and gets injured way too often, I wouldn't want him in Detroit. I'd like to see a nice cheap guy who doesn't have a problem not playing top four D minutes, like Nolan Pratt, Shane Hnidy, Matt Walker, Doug Janik, or Sean Brown. If Holland's feeling a little more bold and can work out a good deal, I wouldn't mind seeing Steve Staios, Denis Gauthier, Craig Rivet or maybe Hal Gill. Barnes52 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2006 Most of those guys could be had for late picks or a Mowers type. They are just salary dumps for most of those teams.
fatcat6 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 I would have to say that the only person we should go for is Walker, because he's a young guy that can help the team in the future.

fightfan24 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 Walker could be a nice fit -- the odds favor Richardson hoping he can turn back the clock for three months and be somewhat effective.
fatcat6 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 I think that Richardson's days are pretty much near over. He just doesn't seem that same out there at all.
