ColdWarrior 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Per TSN, Minnesota has waived Alexandre Daigle. Now, he's underperformed in the NHL, no doubt there. But he has a lot of unfulfilled scoring potential & great speed. At 850K, we could fit him in the roster without trading a darn thing. If AD is ever going to reach his potential, it'd be on the wing of Hank. Hell, look how good Sammy & Homer do when playing on Zetts line & they don't have anywhere near the offensive upside AD has. If he doesn't do well w/Zetts... oh well. We lost nothing to get him, and he'd be a lot better on the 4th line than Mowers. Kenny has said he'd be willing to trade for depth... here you could get a potential game breaker without losing a thing.
fatcat6 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Yeah, that sucks that he's gone, but it happens. I posted the guy who took his spot on the team in General Discussion, and this forum should probably be moved there.
fatcat6 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 None the less, he's a great player, and if he's picked up, it's probably going to be by a team that's not far back from making the playoffs.
gobias 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 There's really no sense in changing the starting roster w/o making it a significant move. Daigle may have been great at one time but he's yet to put it together in the NHL (and at 31, will it ever happen?). He'd probably do well with Hank but honestly, who wouldn't? The weakest roster player is Cleary and since he's a much better defensive package I can't honestly say I'd make the move. In the end, 850k is just too much to spend on a guy who's going to be in the bleachers more often than not.
