betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Wow....Hudler took a drop. Putting him behind Kindl is a surprise. Kopecky took a big flying leap forward. Glad to see that because Kopecky had been lousing it up for Grand Rapids until this year. Ryno's presence in the top 10 is a huge leap too.
Mule39 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Haskins has to be signed this summer and they said unless he puts on significant weight they may just let him go.

I wouldnt be surprised if he was let go. He's nothing special anyway. The only player coming out of the OHL that i see having a real impact is Kindl.

RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted March 21, 2006 Maybe we have more solid prospects than you think? Maybe, but Quincey has been underrated since forever by HF.
J-Swift 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2006 I'm with Barnes on this one. It's confusing to me that a defender who has seamlessly transitioned into a major role the AHL could be put so low, especially considering how thin we are on defensive prospects. I'm a little suprised to see Ryno ahead of Quincey. I think Johan is likely to turn out as a steal for us, but nobody knows what he's capable of yet.

Quincey was also the last player cut from arguably one of the best Canadian WJCH teams ever.
Cruiser008 37 Report post Posted March 21, 2006 Wow....Hudler took a drop. Putting him behind Kindl is a surprise. I've never been high on Hudler, and this ranking certainly supports my view that we should trade Hudler while his value is still fairly high (esp. considering you have way too many smallish, skilled playmaking centers as it is). betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 I've never been high on Hudler, and this ranking certainly supports my view that we should trade Hudler while his value is still fairly high (esp. considering you have way too many smallish, skilled playmaking centers as it is). I wish his AHL success would translate to the NHL. 3 points in 16 NHL games is pretty weak. Still, Kindl hasn't even spent a year as a Wings prospect and, even with a pretty good year at Kitchener, it's surprising to see him up so high....HF does tend to put a lot of weight on players who were more recently drafted, I suppose. You'd think that a great year in the AHL would be worth more in their ratings than a great year in juniors.

And Kopecky had the best looking tenure this season of any of the prospects, so clearly he's our top forward prospect, right?
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted March 23, 2006 "His quick, aggressive, and skilled game is a perfect fit for the Wings roster. Grigorenko has elite-level potential. He worked hard to retain his skill after potential career-ending injuries; it should pay off with a roster spot in Detroit in 2006-07." I can't wait to see play for the Wings, is it possible he will be on the same line as Dats and Zetterberg?
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted March 23, 2006 I'm gonna throw my NEW list in here (for those who don't recall, I had posted a list a while ago) The previous list in top-20 form, minus players HF does not have as 'eligible' any longer. Niklas Kronwall 9.0B Igor Grigorenko 8.5B Jiri Hudler 8.0B Jimmy Howard 8.0B Jakub Kindl 8.0B Evan McGrath 8.0C Kyle Quincey 7.5B Valtteri Filppula 7.5B Justin Abdelkader 7.5B Tomas Kopecky 7.5C Miroslav Blatak 7.5C Drew MacIntyre 7.5C Joey Macdonald 7.0B Johan Franzen 6.5B Matt Ellis 6.0B Darryl Bootland 6.0B Derek Meech 6.0B Brett Lebda 5.5C As for the new top-20-esque list and ratings, I'll lay them out like so. Niklas Kronwall 9.0B Igor Grigorenko 8.5B Jimmy Howard 8.0B Jakub Kindl 8.0B Jiri Hudler 8.0B Evan McGrath 8.0C Valtteri Filppula 7.5B Tomas Kopecky 7.5B Kyle Quincey 7.5B Justin Abdelkader 7.5B Miroslav Blatak 7.5C Johan Ryno 7.5C Drew MacIntyre 7.5C Joey Macdonald 7.0B Johan Franzen 7.0B Brett Lebda 6.5C Matt Ellis 6.0B Darryl Bootland 6.0B Sergei Kolosov 6.0B Anton Axelsson 6.0C
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 I can't wait to see play for the Wings, is it possible he will be on the same line as Dats and Zetterberg? That's unlikely. He'll probably play with one or the other, but with Hank's emergence as an elite level center, it just doesn't seem like the wisest idea to keep him stuck on the left wing where he can't be as effective. More likely we'll see a return of the Homer/Hank/Sammy line--ain't broke don't fix it. Shanahan/Datsyuk/Grigorenko could happen, with Draper either moving to Yzerman's spot with Lang or moving back to center, with Cleary, Franzen, or perhaps Hudler/Kopecky/whoever moving to Yzerman's wing spot alongside Lang. Seth 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2006 Shanahan - Datsyuk - Grigorenko ( I like but honestly Hank makes a better center than Dats.) Im going with so. Bell - Dats - Grigs Homer - Hank - Sammy Shanny - Lang - Maltby Franzen - Draper - Cleary Bell we get from the Hawks for Williams + Hudler + whatever else. Do you know why? Those are balanced awesome lines that are just sick. on D we'd have Lids - Kronwall Schnids - Lebda Chelly - Lijia or Quincey
