russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 Delmore Wins Eddie Shore Delmore won the Eddie Shore Award for AHL Defenseman of the year. Trying to send him down was a good choice, since he didn't really fit and isn't as good as Lebda in my eyes, but I kind of wish that he hadn't been claimed off of waivers. This guy is a sieve. Sure, he's offensive-minded. But the Red Wings have plenty in that category. It worked out for the best.
J-Swift 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 I'm glad to see he had a great season in the AHL, I felt bad for him went we sent him down, it was kinda his dream I guess to play for the Wings. Though I don't think he was the right fit for us and letting him go was probably the right move.
Silent Hill 3 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 Good for him. He'd have been a good "depth" guy in the system. What I can't figure out is why Columbus would claim him off waivers, only to see him stay in the AHL for all but 5 games with the big club? Unless Columbus just wanted to deny the Wings having Delmore in their system, I can't figure out why they claimed him and kept him in the AHL.
wingfanatic4alltime 32 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 I m very glad for delmore that although he isnt in the Nhl now he is making progress and hopefully he can be in the Nhl succeeding just not against the wings
surva 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 as was mentioned, the wings lack what is his exact opposite. lebda is not a very good defensive player, but i think he is probably far more coachable in that respect. regardless, Any Elmore's 17 goals and 55 assists in 65 games is pretty impressive. They didn't have to pay him anything except your standard AHL money, and if somebody got hurt there he was. Didn't really turn out that they needed him, but I'll be the last guy to argue about aquiring some quality depth players.

FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted April 13, 2006 Nice to see him getting some respect. Also good to see him getting his own thread here on a regular basis. Is he the latest defenseman to have scored 3 goals in a playoff-match? Anyone? NorrisNick?
Legionnaire11 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2006 I don't feel bad for delmore... he can score pp goals from the point, and not much else. Philly let him go because he's a terrible defenseman, Nashville let him go because he's a terrible defenseman, Detroit let him go because he's a terrible defenseman and columbus sent him down because? He's a terrible defenseman. His offensive upside isn't enough to outweigh his completely horrible defenseive play. Trotz tried to get Delmore to move up and play LW, but delmore refused. bad attitude to go with bad defense = never succeeding in the NHL.
