Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 We should trade Lang to someone like Columbus, the jackets NEED a center BAD, I'm sure they'd give us some good picks for him....maybe we could trade Lang and our first, and fourth, for their first. Your trade scenarios need alot of work man...first Schneider for Havlat and now this?? Why in the world would Columbus give up pick #6 in order to acquire another old and overpaid Center? Howe's Bony Elbow 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2006 Greetings fellow Wings fans, First time poster here, so please be gentle. I'd like to debut by saying Lang for Zednik would be a terrible trade, and would be further proof that Ken Holland doesn't know what he's doing. While I'm no great fan of Lang's, he's certainly a heckuva lot better player than Zednik, probably one of the laziest and softest players in the league. Come on, Holland -- I'm with the others who are calling for more changes to the roster. Three straight early playoff exits, and all in the exact same manner (no scoring, no leadership, overmatched defence, too much perimeter play), demand for major alterations. I'm all for dealing Lang if it makes sense, such as freeing up cap space, getting a prospect or picks, but not if it's to land a stiff like Zednik who'll disappear come playoff time. I was stunned by how well the Wings performed in the regular season, and was very disappointed -- but not surprised -- at their loss to the Oilers. We have a habit of making decent teams look great, and filling them with the confidence that will carry them to the Cup final. It's time there was a big culture change on the team, and if that means not re-signing Shanahan and Yzerman and dealing guys like Schneider and Lang, so be it. RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 And why would Detroit want draft picks for Lang? 1. To get rid of his salary. 2. Because they're deep at centre but in need of wingers. Trading Lang would free up a spot. I'd prefer to trade Datsyuk, but trading Lang might be slightly more realistic.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 depending on if Yzerman retires or not. If Yzerman doesn't retire, it's a tough call. Lang and Yzerman have such great chemistry. If Yzerman retires, I would do that trade in a heartbeat. Thats Exactly what i was thinking , if Stevie retires , then trade Lang for zednik, free up cap space & also give us a new winger
wingsfan27 1 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 just saw this on spector's trade rumors ........... CAPS TO SHOP PROSPECTS? WASHINGTON POST: Tarek el-Bashir reports the Capitals "abundance of prospects" could be used to shore up the club's roster shortfalls. The Capitals lack a first-line centre, a defenceman to "quarterback the powerplay" and a goalie prospect, and with owner Ted Leonsis unwilling to spend on expensive free agents this summer, management's "best option" could be to shop some of those prospects. Spector's Note: A goalie prospect could be brought in but I doubt the club could fill those other two needs by just prospects alone. how about we try and trade back lang to washington ?? i know it might not happen cause he played for them before but they didnt have an ovechkin before either , and we can also trade schneider to play on their powerplay , we got enough offensive defensemen in lidstrom/kronwall/lebda id prefer using the free money to get some physical d like jay mckee and maybe a salei and maybe a langenbrunner who actually shows up in the playoffs on a line with zetterbeg and holmstrom or a big jason arnott to play with datsyuk and shanahan any thoughts
