Guest wintersmint Report post Posted May 13, 2006 I want to know what others think about re-aquiring Sean Avery.... he is a power house checker and has the forecheck detroit needs now, as opposed to when they got rid of him in 03. Yes...he has attitude.... but nothing that can't be controlled...has anyone heard anything about him? I don't think Holland would even consider bringing him back...but its just an idea. Sean Avery, though he does posses speed, and would probably kill anyone who hits Yzerman, is undesciplined, and would add about 200 PM to the Detroit team. One of the many problems Detroit faced in the playoffs this year were penalties which resulted in those 6 to 7 minute break downs we had every game. Think how much worse it would have been with Avery on the team. I would hate for him to be on Detroit.

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 (edited) No. It is soooooooooo tempting to lock this thread Please do, you have the power to! No way on Avery with his shenanigans. He's acted like a butthole one too many times for my liking, as well as a lot of other people and organizations (i.e. the Kings). If he would just keep quiet for a change and not stir up drama constantly, I wouldn't mind bringing him back, but as this past season has shown, he's a cancer to his teammates and to himself. SwedeLundin77 460 Report post Posted May 19, 2006 Honestly though, I was just watching The Season for 2003 Wings, and it seemed like Holland and Bowman didn't really want to give up Avery, citing he was a one-of-a kinda player and the only reason they traded him was because LA was gunning for him in that trade, otherwise he'd still be here. He seemed for more disciplined in Detroit than he did in LA, and he was younger then too. I think that he just didn't like it in LA, I think he loved it in Detroit so I wouldn't mind getting him back, he's got speed, can put up about 40 points a season, and can hit and pester other players, we need that. We also have the type of team that is disciplined and can enforce that on Sean, I think he would be fine in Detroit and if we have the chance to re-acquire him, I'd say go for it. DSM 114 Report post Posted May 20, 2006 Whoa there soldier... relax guys. I thought he was pretty good when he was with us. I was kindof bummed when he got traded, although relieved Kuznetsov was gone..... His off-ice shenanigans might not help, but he's showed he can produce in LA, and he's a gritty guy. I think he deserves a look.
Guest ontariowingsfan Report post Posted May 21, 2006 oh my... still can't believe there are people who actually want this guy on their team *shakes head
ColdWarrior 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2006 (edited) In his short stint with us, he was great. Energy, speed, attitude... Since then, he's gone WAY down hill attitude-wise... his attitude is now a liability more than anything else. The ONLY benefit to bringing him here would be the addition of Elisha Cuthbert in the JLA seats. Edited May 22, 2006 by ColdWarrior
Henkka 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2006 I don't like him. But it would be a nice scenario to land him and Jarkko Ruutu here. Maltby - Avery - Ruutu = Dickhead line. They would really make opponents to go crazy.

There is no way the wings need that moron!!! He isn't a powerhouse checker by any stretch of the imagination. If we like playing short handed, then he is the man for us! What do you mean "nothing that can't be controlled"? The Kings couldn't controll him thats why he was suspended for the last month or so of the season. They said they couldn't deal with him anymore. I think he's on of those players like Chelios... you hate them until they are on your team and then you love them. We do need a player LIKE Sean Avery, but I think he himself is just too much of a risk.
Guest ZetterBurger40 Report post Posted June 12, 2006 I would like to have him back, it's obvious that we need some speed and an agitator/hitter in our lineup- Holmstrom is more tame than my Labrador these days.

Lidstrom Rules 1 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 Hell, why stop at Avery, let's try to get Barnaby. Wait a minute, what's Claude Lemieux doing these days? He was a pretty good agitater. (and yes for those who don't know, the lemieux comment is extreme sarcasm meant to show that agitation isn't always a good and desirable thing, although at least claude won a conn smythe. It'll be a cold day in hell when avery wins that trophy.)
