I read you guys don't like Aebisher, he's better than Belfour....And he's only 2M/year... Maybe we can help you out a little with your cap room issues (not that Lang leaving doesn't help) by trading Souray for Schneider, Souray would like to see more of the west this year, to be closer to his daugter in LA... Lang and draft picks for Ryder, souray and abischer Ryder scored 30 goals and says he was hurt most of the year. Souray is an offensive minded top 4 defenceman, good format. Aebisher is a #1 goalie. All of this for Lang ? and draft picks ? And you boost your mass up 3M ? (Ryder will get 2,25M, Souray makes 2,5M & Aebisher will sign for 2M) Lang & Holmstrom for Ryder & Aebisher... Mollow 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 You guys know Lang is overpaid, you won't get much more than Aebisher or Zednik on a 1 vs 1 trade... both are worth 2M. Zednik is not as bad as is stats show. He's been forced to play on the left since the eclosion of Ryder and the arrival of Kovalev... And he doesn't like it either, that is why he is on the market. We have a lot of right wingers available, Zednik, Ryder, Perezhogin, and then there are some more almost ready in the AHL... (Kostitsyn). For Ryder, you would sure have to let go of Holmstrom... He`s one of the few players we have that can get it done in the play-offs, then again, if we could get a couple of players for him that might be o.k. Why on earth get Souray, he`s the worst defencemen ever, he gets beat so many times, like by Spezza, Chara, Bergeron, Boyton etc., the list goes on, he can`t play D very well. I know he was supposed to be the future in Colorado and never lived up to the hype that surrounded him, just like Turco in Dallas. They were amazing back-ups but once they became starters, never were quite as good. I would definitley take Aebicher over Belfour here, but trading Lang or Holmstrom is a little much, especially since Tomas is the only guy who has any guts to take wacks from any goalie, now that Shanny and Stevie are gone. I've got to take issue with your opinion on Turco. I think he's damn good. And I hate the U of M. I do, however, agree with you about Aebsicher. I remember thinking during his backup years in Denver how the hell he even got THAT job. He looked so clumsy back there. Admitedly, I haven't seen him play in a while and Montreal seemed to want him bad enough to trade former Mr. Big Stuff Jose Theodore. People around here seem to be goo goo ga ga about him, maybe that's because the alternative seems to be Mr. Belfour. And if the Wings part with Holmstrom for some garbage like the trade discussed in this forum, it'll be a crime. Mario Lemiuex he is not, but Homer is the best in the game at what he does...which, if I'm not mistaken, is clinically called "Stand there and piss that guy off." Not since Dino Ciccarelli has someone had the reputation that he's got for being that crease dwelling ******* the other 29 teams HATE but desperately wish they had. Oh and to agree with the poster above me... expecting a return of RYDER, Souray and a goalie is pretty much the lithmus test to whether or not you are actually on the crack-rock. His astronomical salary for what he does is going to make him difficult to move on its own. Not to mention his difficulty of moving adding to the difficulty of moving him. I can't remember anyone being as seemingly lazy on the ice as he is. He does, however, produce when it counts, somehow. I'd trade Lang for just about anyone (not because I hate him that much, but because of the new thing theyve got going on in the NHL called the salary cap...cursed fiscal responsibility!), but that doesn't mean there are takers. Ok, what about Aebisher for Lang, straight like that. He juste signed for 1,9M. Goalers get better around 30. Lang won't get better... You save 1,9M.
