I'm not a huge tennis fan but I was flipping around the TV and ran into late of the 2nd game of the Agassi-Pavel match and it drew me in. That was a thrill to watch, especially after Agassi looked like he was in the tank during the third game. Some of the shots those men hit that game were incredible.

Well I’m actually going to go out on a limb here and say Roddick will win. He’s in brilliant form, just coming off a long overdue Masters title and he looked extremely impressive yesterday. With Jimmy Connors coaching him he seems to have a much more complete game, he’s playing patient and rarely making any errors. Yesterday he only had a dozen or so errors for the first two sets, remarkable tennis.

For the women’s I think Sharapova will win her 2nd Grand Slam. She has a very, very easy draw and if she’s on her game she should go all the way.

Of course being from switzerland, i'll say federer and for the ladies, I would like hingis but I think her shot isn't powerful enough. I'd like agassi to reach at least the quarters, that would be nice.... :P

Too bad for Hingis today.... apart from Clijsters she is the only top 10 player with an all-court finess game.

Anyone watch the Agassi/Baghdatis match? One of the best matches I have seen; it amazes me how the 36 year old Agassi just keeps on keeping on while Baggy could barely walk due to cramp. What a legend.

I tuned in late into game 4 and got into game 5 where Agassi started off slow but then came back. Great action, these guys can strike the ball with so much power under control. Unfortuantely I couldn't keep my sorry behind from staying awake so I missed the very end.

I was glued to the tube for the entire match. Holy crap. That was amazing, bizarre, and stressful!

I have no idea how Agassi pulled off the win. Baghdatis was nervous at first and very sloppy, then played well and worked hard to make it a helluva match. Then, as the younger guy cramped up so painfully, he still managed to play well. And you know Andre had to be in pain and exhausted. I had no idea who was going to win.

I'm hoping for a rainy Saturday in NYC just so Andre can get an extra day of rest. Baghdatis is a better player than this "no, I'm not Boris" Becker, but each match has to be wearing on Agassi. If Andre can pull out a win in round 3, I'll be astonished - and very, very pleased!

I'm looking forward to the Safin/Nalbandian match tonight. That could be very interesting.

Ooh, I didn't realize Martina Navritolova was playing mixed doubles in the US Open - for some reason, I thought she was retiring after Wimbledon. Gotta catch her & one of the Bryan brothers.

I tuned into most of the 3rd set until the very end.

I was surprised to see how many unforced errors Becker had, and some of them were BAD. Nevertheless, he turned his game back on when he needed to most those last few games.

I wish I would've watched tennis a bit more and become familiar with the main players to understand a some more what Agassi has meant to the sport.

I know I'm not the only one out there that cried watching Andre lose and give his speech!!!

You will be missed Andre. Thank you for 21 amazing years. You did more for the entertainment value and popularity of tennis than anyone over those years. A real legend.

Agassi is perhaps the greatest American player ever...and that's saying a lot when you have guys like Sampras, McEnroe, Connors, Riggs, and Ashe to compare to.

As far as return game, there was none better.

Man, another guy I grew up watching has retired.

I must be getting old.

Agassi will be missed on the tour. Sampras was the more dominant player, but not nearly as entertaining to watch.

Yeah I know how you feel - I've been watching Andre his whole career - heck he's close to my age! I cried when he lost the other night.... :crybaby: although it was not unexpected with his sore back - 21 years of hard courts! The match vs Marcos Bag. the other night was a classic - watched the whole thing!

Never was a big Sampras fan. Nothing personal against the guy, but Agassi's on-court play excited me much more, and well....Pete is boring! Here's hoping Andre snags McEnroe's job! Ha-ha!

Routing for Roddick! He's playing well but tough times ahead. Dark horse = Marat Safin, love to watch this guy play.

Women's, of who is left, always hoping for Davenport, who knows. I don't like Henin-Hardenne or Mauresmo, so I might be doomed. Would also like to see Sharapova in the finals...........

Ok, I just tuned into the Open a few minutes ago this evening...

WTF is up with Sharapova yelling everytime she hits the ball? She sounds like one of those extremely intense karate people or a porn star in the middle/end parts of a sex scene. I just want to jump through my TV and tell her to shut up!

I appreciate an attractive woman but I agree Sharapova's tennis game and on-court antics are rather boring and annoying.

I don't care for any of the women left. Hoping for a Roddick/Federer final.

Hope Hewitt has something to say about Roddick's tournament... ;):D

Sorry, not this time! Lleyton looked really outmatched tonight. Roddick was unbelievable. Best tennis I've seen from him in a few years - Conners magic. I actually think he has a shot.....

Seroiusly though, sorry your boy lost. Even though Lleyton's a turkey sometimes, I kind of have always liked him, he's really fun to watch, and I would have rooted for him if he wasn't playing Andy.....

Thanks. :) Yeh it was disappointing, I expected a close match and considering Hewitt’s 6-2 record against Roddick I thought he was have fared a little better. But I have to agree, this is the best I’ve seen Roddick play. I watched the Cincinnati event a few weeks back and he played brilliant, and his form has carried on to the US Open. He really is playing scintillating tennis and he could be a big chance to knock off Federer, of course he just needs to get past Youzhny first.
