SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League’s Board of Governors today granted conditional approval of the sale and relocation of the inactive AHL franchise owned by Gardens Hockey Inc. of Cincinnati, Ohio, to Ice Track Corporation of Windsor, Ont.

THAT'S HUGE! They were supposed to build that arena like 2 years ago for the Spitfires, but happy they are doing it now. The Windsor Raceway location isn't necessarily Windsor, it's Lasalle. Doesn't matter, just being a smartass. That's sweet though.

The Wings' relationship with the Griffins is pretty solid for now, but this kinda makes you wonder just how long-term that relationship will be.

they'll probably end up sharing the new windsor team as a farm club with hmm...edmonton? seems like edm does that alot.

Edmonton still owns their own AHL franchise (the former Edmonton Roadrunners) but its operations are suspended. If they start a primary affliation, it will be with the AHL team they own, when they find a home for it.

A lot can change in the AHL in a few years, so it's a bit premature to speculate who might affliate themselves with the Windsor team, but I would say Florida or Colorado sounds most likely at this point.
