MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League’s Board of Governors today granted conditional approval of the sale and relocation of the inactive AHL franchise owned by Gardens Hockey Inc. of Cincinnati, Ohio, to Ice Track Corporation of Windsor, Ont. http://www.theahl.com/AHL/News/2006/10/02/1936296.html
BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 THAT'S HUGE! They were supposed to build that arena like 2 years ago for the Spitfires, but happy they are doing it now. The Windsor Raceway location isn't necessarily Windsor, it's Lasalle. Doesn't matter, just being a smartass. That's sweet though.

betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 The Wings' relationship with the Griffins is pretty solid for now, but this kinda makes you wonder just how long-term that relationship will be.

MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 (edited) they'll probably end up sharing the new windsor team as a farm club with hmm...edmonton? seems like edm does that alot. Edmonton still owns their own AHL franchise (the former Edmonton Roadrunners) but its operations are suspended. If they start a primary affliation, it will be with the AHL team they own, when they find a home for it. A lot can change in the AHL in a few years, so it's a bit premature to speculate who might affliate themselves with the Windsor team, but I would say Florida or Colorado sounds most likely at this point. Palemoonlight 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2006 Windsor is a good OHL town, but I doubt the AHL would succeed there. Keep in mind Windsor's economy is taking more hits than Lilja's reputation is on these boards. Check out Bob Duff's article, if so inclined. http://www.canada.com/windsorstar/news/spo...5d-8828df7e1107
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 I think that'd be cool if it worked, but I can understand Duff's argument .
