motorcitykid 42 Report post Posted January 16, 2007 Defense looks strong. Kindl & Meech rated slightly ahead of Kyle. And suprise: Grigs still on the radar. Article here
WhiteLightning91 105 Report post Posted January 16, 2007 Why the hell is Abdelkader wasting his time in the ***** CCHA? Get this kid in the OHL or AHL. He could be playing in 25-30 games more in the OHL and almost 40 more in the AHL. Get this kids head out of his ass and put him in a league that will help his development. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted January 18, 2007 Get this kids head out of his ass and put him in a league that will help his development. His head is not in his ass...it's in his books. Abdelkader's chances of making the Wings are slim for the next couple of seasons anyway...he's better off staying in school as long as possible and getting an education. Exactly, and it benifits the Wings if he stays in school. They have a longer period of grace before they have to sign him.

Who are you to declare he needs to get his head out of his ass? Maybe he happens to like college. Question about that article: How is Meech above Quincey, if Meech is projected to be no better than a 5th d-man and Quincey a 4th-6th d-man, and how is Quincey above Ericsson if Ericsson is projected to be a top-four? Prospect lists don't usually take into account how close they are to the bigs. If Ericsson projects higher than Quincey and Meech, he should be above them. And by the way, I can't wait for Ericsson to get here. My favorite prospect, at this point. Though I think it's interesting that Nill thinks Kindl has a shot at making the big club during next year's camp. That'd be fun.

How is getting an education and playing for a respected program and coach having one's head up their ass? Like BRTD said, maybe he likes college. I loved college, MSU is a great place to go. Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 Emmerton looks injury prone. Looks like our top 10 prospects have our 3rd and 4th line covered... plus we've got some defensemen that will make 5th or 6th... what about scoring?! This list scared me.

Looks like our top 10 prospects have our 3rd and 4th line covered... plus we've got some defensemen that will make 5th or 6th... what about scoring?! This list scared me. Emmerton • Projection: Forward on one of the top two lines. Mursak • Projection: Second- or third-line winger. Grigorenko • Projection: Second- or third-line winger. And not to mention Hudler who is 23, and Filppula who is 22. We'll be alright.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Take the current roster, and remove anyone over 30. The following is that list, as well as projected playing level. Forwards: 1st line Zetterberg Datsyuk 2nd line Cleary Filppula Hudler Williams Kopecky 3rd line Franzen Defense: Top four Kronwall Bottom three Lebda That means we need to fill that out with, at minimum, 1 first liner, 3 fourth liners (or better), a 13th forward (or better) three top-four defensemen, two bottom-three defensemen (or better), a starting goalie, and a backup goalie (or better). From that top-ten list for those roles we have Emmerton, Grigorenko, Mursak, Abdelkader, Helm, Kindl, Ericsson, Quincey, Meech, and Howard. Rated as they were in that article, it gives us 3 first liners, 7 second liners, and 3 3rd liners at forward; Four top-four defensemen, 2 bottom-three defensemen, and a starting goaltender. Leaving the only 'needs' as a seventh defenseman and a backup goalie--which can be Logan Pyett and Stefan Liv, if you stick to the prospects list.
Henkka 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Probable Red Wings core at 2010. Of course the will be trades and so but, these guys would be there: Wings 2010 (Player, age at 2010, handness) Franzen (30-L) - Zetterberg (29-L) - Samuelsson (33-R) Cleary (31-L) - Datsyuk (31-L) - Grigorenko (27-L) Hudler (26-L) - Filppula (26-L) - Kopecky (28-L) Helm (23-L) - Draper (38-L) - Abdelkader (23-L) Mursak (22-R) - Emmerton (21-L) - Williams (29-R) Lidström (39-L) - Markov (33-L) Lebda (28-L) - Kronwall (29-L) Kindl (23-L) - Ericsson (26-L) Quincey (24-L) - Meech (25-L) Howard (26) Liv (29) The Handness thing is quite bad. Only right-handed prospect is Jan Mursak.

FromAway 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 So is it fair to say from his ommission from this string that most people feel McGrath is no longer a prospect or is a career AHLer at best?

WingMan56 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 (edited) Don't forget Ryno, this kid will be over here sooner rather than later. Dick Axelsson and Shawn Matthias also. Jeff May is one of the top D prospects and will be signed this summer too. He could be a future #5 D-man. Edited February 7, 2007 by WingMan56
