If Detroit is going to give up a 1st round pick for a punk, Id rather have it be a 20 goal scoring punk. Darcy Tucker is a more disciplined (hard to say that, i know) and more offensive version of Avery.
It is not your aptitude, but your attitude, that determines your altitude.

Sean Avery isn't worth 50 cents in my book...

Ah, ol' Sean. What can we say about this young man? Let's take a look:
6th in league PIMs, and the only reason there's anyone even close to him is because the others have tons of fighting majors and misconducts as a result. The most important fact is that he is 1st (NUMBAH ONE!) in minor penalties; you know, the ones you go into the box and sit your ass down for while the other team gets a power play.
To be fair to Sean, he's really tied for first in minors. Such defensive stalwarts as Brian McCabe and Sean Hill share his enthusiasm for taking penalties.

"We've been in the same spot all year long. We won 50 games for the fourth year in a row. People think we're just hum-drum and boring.
No, you know what we are, we're good. You can't do what we do every single day and not be good." - Mike Babcock

i was at an La kings game on vacation in cali and saw avery play, and i was impressed. in person, he looked fast, made hits, had a fight and scored the game tying goal with 20 secs left. i think that is exactly what we need for the playoffs. he brings energy and grit to our team. he is perfect, plus hes played here before and the players loved him. i dunno why u wouldnt want him, so what hes a punk. as long as hes on our team thats fine with me. he plays hard, hits, fights, and scores timely goals. perfect for playoffs. i would totally give up a pick for him and see what happens. make the trade holland. make the trade

That is a horrible idea. Avery is one of the stupidest players in the league. If he came here, he'd fight people for his own entertainment, not to protect anyone. He doesn't care about anyone but himself. Listen to the way he talks about people (including his own teamates) to the media.
I'll surely pass on this one.

The Los Angeles Kings have traded centre Sean Avery and prospect John Seymour to the New York Rangers for right winger Jason Ward along with prospects Marc-Andre Cliche and Jan Marek.
