Jokinen wants out

I was just on Tsn.ca broadband and Darren Dreger was saying how Olli Jokinen wanted out of Florida. Jokinen wouldn't ask for a trade, but would welcome one if it came his way. I know we can all sit and speculate about who's going where, but I would love to see this guy in Detroit. A natural goal scorer and center, who can play the wing, good size. This guy could be dynamite with Datsyuk or Z and he could also be a solid addition to our #2 powerplay. What does everyone think?

i wouldnt mind but considering the fact hes got another three years remaining on his deal it would probably take alot more to get him then someone else who would be unrestricted at seasons end so i doubt it

i think if he played with zetterberg he can be a 40 goal scorer , his average salary is like 5 million per which is a good deal , rather have him at 5 then datsyuk at 6-7 per

jason williams , jiri hudler , 1st round pick and 2nd rounder ??? i doubt that would even be enough , he would cost us too much

He does have a few years left on his contract...which is what intrigues me... I don't like this rent-a- player thing for a team like Detroit. Since the Panthers are obviously going to be big sellers (wth Jokinen, Bertuzzi, Roberts, and possibly Horton) it wouldn't surprise me to see them go after a young skilled player like Hudler, a couple picks, and hopefully Lilja or Lang. Losing a first round pick doesn't bother me either, since The Wings are so good at finding hidden gems. I don't think we've had a star player come in the first round since Stevie.

It'd be nice to add a guy like Jokinen, but I don't see it happening at all. We don't have the assets to put together an attractive enough package -- unless we're willing to trade, say, Filppula and Kronwall, for a start. Let's keep the kids and just wait til the off-season and bring in a guy like Drury or Briere, I say. We could still deal a Hudler or lower-level prospect for a renter to see what kind of effect it'll have on us in the playoffs (not much, I'm afraid, ir we're going up against the Sharks).

unless he demands a trade and puts his gm in a tight spot i don't see this happening, mad mike is out of florida so that should see the end of stupid gm moves,...although no one expected big joe to be traded last year either and what they put up for him in sj wasn't astronomical.
