zata40 3 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 not that I'm glad that they lost, but now that they got shutout maybe it will be like a kick in the butt, and they will work even harder
kozac 10 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 The big minus the the streak end is that Nashville is 3 points ahead of us now ... not GOOD! Thats the good news. I don't want us to win the presidents trophy this year. Let Nashville have it. I want us to go into the playoffs as an underdog '97 style Although i'm kind of afraid to play San Jose in the first round...

wingsgirl001 983 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 It sucks that we got shutout, and I was a little upset about it, but at least I don't have to worry about it anymore. And I DID get sick of hearing about it during every game. I don't really care that it was against the Blues though. I find it kind of funny actually. As for why, I think I'll hold my tongue. Guest LivingtheDream Report post Posted February 9, 2007 I agree. A shutout streak to me is just one more excuse this Wings team needs to fill their heads. Just like the Presidents trophy, a shutout streak doesnt guarantee anything in the playoffs! Amen! It was meaningless. Concentrate boys (and girls) - playoffs, playoffs, playoffs! Jwo 7 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 I'm bum that we got shut-out. I was hopeing that we can break that record and have it be the Red Wings name when someone mentions who holds the streak record.

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 Not like it matters. The streak was really getting to the point of annoying after a while anyways. It was like the previous mention earlier of how Ken Daniels has to mention that Dallas Drake was drafted and formally played for the Red Wings. Same basically goes for every other player that played for the Wings at one point or another and is now playing for a different team. Besides, it was going to end sooner or later. Better just deal with it. And by deal with it I mean go make some trades Kenny.

Swimming with the Sharks 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2007 The FSN Midwest announcers mentioned it every two minutes during the latter half of the third period, it seems. I was hoping they would jinx Sanford. Anyway, I would've felt much beeter had it been against someone like Kipper or Nabby. What's really disappointing is that hockey is so far at the bottom of the American totem pole that SportsCenter didn't even bother to mention the streak being broken when they reported the score. Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 10, 2007 (edited) The FSN Midwest announcers mentioned it every two minutes during the latter half of the third period, it seems. That's probably because most ESPN broadcasters don't even like hockey (or at least act like they don't). You have Barry Melrose, and a few others, but that's about it. The main guys on SportsCenter seem more like basketball fans then anything. It seems like they have highlights from every single basketball game that took place the previous night, even if it's two offbeat collage's that nobody even cares about. Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted February 10, 2007 Thank God there are more like me. I thought I might get toasted for starting this thread. Anyway, it's been said a few times, they shouldn't even be asked about the streak, they should concentrate on the playoffs and coming together as a perfect PLAYOFF team, not a perfect REGULAR SEASON team that they have been since 2002.
