Zeta Power 40 1 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 I heard on the radio that Detroit is also looking at him right now or at the deadline. I think he's everything the Wings need and would be a great addition to the team for a cup run
Rice 42 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 Edmonton isn't going to trade him.
zata40 3 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 the only way Edmonton would give him up is if they get someone good in return, and we cant afford that
BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 I think he'd be great here, but I don't see Edmonton trading him.
Mudvayneowns91 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2007 Edmonton isn't going to trade him. Well, it doesn't look too likely they'll resign. him http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/edm070130.html
Wings_Toledo 233 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 I can't help but comment on all posts relating to the one player I really wish we'd get. If he does get traded I'm pretty sure it won't be to Detroit. I just hope we can maybe get him over the summer if he doesn't sign elsewhere.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 Since Edmonton isnt set on trading him and dont have to, you can be damn sure he wont be had for anything like Hudler and draft picks. I dont think the Wings would pony up anything that would interest the Oilers...so i'd rule it out.
bcwingsfan19 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 Heres an article.. maybe Detroit is interested in him. http://www2.sportsnet.ca/blogs/hockey_hear...eadline_option/
arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 I can not believe this is back up. Seriously, other than Gretzky, Ryan Smyth is number 1 there. He is a hometown boy, who is adored by fans and a great player to boot. I am almsot positive he will spend his ENTIRE career in Emonton. He would be awesome here, but it ain't gunna happen. However wants can cut and paste this and bring it back to say: "ha!! Kev you were wrong!!!" if it does end up happening, but I am sure thaty wont happen. Ryan Smyth is an Oiler and always will be. Lets not waste our time looking at him and let something good pass us by while we are twidling our thumbs on something that wont happen.

Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 13, 2007 Edmonton is only a scant few points outside of the playoff bubble. They won't trade their franchise player right now.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 Wings can do their part by beating them at the Joe on the 23rd. But seriously, they'll probably sign him to a six year deal or something.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 13, 2007 Well the oilers and smyth are having troubles right now with contracts and the numbers... if come close to deadline and the oilers are out of the playoff run, i could see the oilers trading him Edmonton is currently six points out of a playoff spot. They have six games between now and the trade deadline, and twenty more after that. They will not drop out of playoff contention in the next six games, even if they lose all of them. Well i guess we'll have to wait and see now won't we... another thing it doesn't help when Cal, Van, and Minny keep on winning Edited February 13, 2007 by wingslogo19

interminded 1 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 Ryan Smith IS Edmonton. If they trade him it would be very very stupid.
FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 He's a bit controversial. On the other hand he's a great player and a leader. Then again,he was the biggest diver in the last playoffs.. Maybe it's got something to do with him winning at all costs?

They will not drop out of playoff contention in the next six games, even if they lose all of them. They are also only six points out of leading the division. Doubtful if they trade away there best players. Edmonton usually picks it up late in the season, sometime it helps them sometimes it doesn't.
