shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2007 I feel like the wings will be rolling over and playing dead up the trade deadline. I can't think of a guy out there right now that i would really want to bring in before the playoffs. My ultimate dream would be for us to get Shanny back but i know that won't happen. gbdet 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2007 Our answer: To New York or Montreal: Lang To Detroit: 2nd round pick and prospect or two To Florida: Williams, Meech, Hudler, NYR or MTL prospect, 1st and 2nd round picks To Detroit: Bertuzzi and Horton
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 Our answer: To New York or Montreal: Lang To Detroit: 2nd round pick and prospect or two To Florida: Williams, Meech, Hudler, NYR or MTL prospect, 1st and 2nd round picks To Detroit: Bertuzzi and Horton Assuming current lines stay together, and traded guys fill in Bertuzzi/Horton/Cleary would be the second line. Not bad, but I think we overpay considerably to get it. Take Bertuzzi out, take Lang and Hudler out...you get Horton for Williams, Meech, and a couple picks. Not an unreasonable deal, and certainly more beneficial to Detroit than the initial suggestion.
Mudvayneowns91 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 I hope Holland can work some deal out that no one really sees coming. I'm not saying getting another Jiri Slegr, but there are better players to fit our team other than the predictables: guerin, keith, bert, smolinski and lapointe. etc.. Please Kenny, we don't need any over the hill players or low life cheap shots. Also, I don't know if anyone else is heard about this, but I've seen a few sites talking about us trying to pickup Hatcher again..... I really hope it is not true
Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 17, 2007 (edited) See this article: http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...0345/1128/rss16 Do not fall victim to the common blunder of these situations, thinking that any change will be a good change. Say we pay a fair bit to pick up Bertuzzi, and the sucks ass because he hasn't played in months. Then what are we left with? Say we'd picked up Forsberg and he'd injured himself again before the playoffs even began. Then where would we have been? Many people here seem very panicky and just want Holland to pick up somebody in order to assuage their own anxiety--sorry, bad idea. P.S. Holland and the management know more about what this team can do, what it needs, and what it can spend, than do anybody here. ultrapail 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 yeah we still have many guys left on this roster that know what it takes to win in the playoffs. First and foremost it takes heart. Babcock and company know this too. They are not going to mortgage the future to get a couple of guys that may or may not help us. What is needed from our current roster is some rest and some change in attitude come playoff time.
dactyl 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 Hahaha, so you're a "take things one problem at a time" kinda guy, eh? I agree that Williams is a pox upon this club, but Lang's actually marketable out there. And to be honest he hasn't had the greatest season with the wings. IF they can move him for someone that'll fit the teams needs better right now they might as well try, at least from my perspective. He clearly doesn't suck, but he might not be the greatest wing right now, and the wings need a dangerous second line! Maybe Samuelsson will come back with a vengence, but who knows. Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 Unfortunately im williling to bet Williams, a 2nd rounder, and probably a lower-mid range prospect is probably all Holland is offering around. That wont get Tkachuk or Guerin, somebody will trump that easily. What we're inevitably looking at acquiring is someone who's overpaid and not performing to expectations, a player who's team will accept a crappy offer because no other team is bidding on him. Think about it, when's the last time Holland really gave up alot in a trade? It doesnt happen, and thats not gonna get you a player other teams are after. Somebody like Sergei Fedorov actually fits my criteria of the type we'll get perfectly.

You do realize thats the equivalent of Detroit trading Kronwall and Filpulla for a couple role players and picks.

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 Well, it would basically be Horton for Detroit's 1st and 2nd round picks, since Williams and Meech have less than no trade value. Young power forward for a Detroit's 1st and 2nd (an important distinction, low picks)? No way Florida would buy that.
