Wings' offer for Forsberg (as well as other teams)

From HF Boards:

Mentioned during the HNIC's Satellite Hotstove chat, here's what the Wings offered, and what the Canucks and Sharks were asked for. Doesn't sound like anyone was as serious as the Predators:

Meantime, Nashville wasn't the only team in the hunt for Forsberg, but Anaheim refused to part with the likes of Cory Perry or Bobby Ryan. San Jose wouldn't deal Steve Bernier. Detroit's last offer was a first and second pick, which wasn't enough, while Vancouver was asked for Brendan Morrison, a top prospect and a first pick. No deal.

based on the offer, it seems that nobody wants/is gonna want williams.

Hahahaha! Would you? I think more people would rather have herpes than Williams. Afterall, you can take medication to prevent symtoms of herpes. The only thing you can do is bench Williams. But he still hurts your cap.

Why not just waive Williams then? The chances of getting rid of him are getting worse and worse every time he steps on the ice. Missing a clear empty net against Phoenix is a sign of that.

Not a Williams fan or anything... but I wouldn't say he is valuable as a turd.

He's not suppose to be a Z type player. His future won't be anymore than a depth player who can go on and off with steaks. He's should be as an average as an expected Cleary year.

Since the first time I ever saw Williams play, I never thought he'd be anything of major importance in NHL. Fans probably just had an illusion of him being elite and too high of expectation of this guy, in result, feel let down.

He's a depth player. Nothing more, nothing less.

I agree with him being no more than a depth player, it's the fact they have him on the 2nd line, in addition to not only being on the power play, but playing the point at that. They got guys on IR, and on the fourth line better than him. Should've never resigned him...

Kenny should have offered Datsyuk

That's amazing, you should really go interview for the gm position. Your way more clever than Kenny. Hmmmmmm...... your best player who's a UFA at seasons end, you want to get the most for him so what would make more sense than another UFA who won't resign?!

On the same night, me and my buddy both had a dream that Jason Williams was traded. Thats gotta mean something :D

I read that the Canucks were asked to part with either Luc Bourdon, Cory Schneider or Alexander Edler in addition to Morrison. I still can't believe the Preds traded Parent. They must plan to re-sign Forsberg.

No wonder the Canucks said no...

If I had to guess, Id say theres no way Forsberg re-signs with Nashville unless they make him an offer he cant refuse...which I still think other teams would try and match. He really seemed to like it in Philly and I wouldnt be surprised if he goes back there in an effort to bring the team back up to where they were pre-2006/07

That's what bothers me the most. Hudler has 8 goals while playing on the 4th line with 8 minutes a game and yet Williams continues to get 2nd line status and PP time. He hasn't earned it in the least.

And while Williams is a depth player he's being paid like a top 9 forward. I'm positive Bootland could be doing more for this team than Williams. Both will score the same amount but Bootland will hit, fight and battle. But from what I hear Williams is a better dancer. I guess that gets you 2nd line minutes with the Wings.

I agree with Khan's blog when he says Flip and Huds should get more time. Give Lang and Cleary 3rd line status for a while and see what these kids can do. It's not like it'll hurt us if they don't score. Nobody but Zetts is scoring these days.

Philly made off like bandits in this deal but I don't blame Nashville giving up Parent. They have a wealth of young talent on the blueline and in their system. This is probably the closest Nashville could come to winning the cup. Sometimes you have to pay a big price for the big prize.

Still, Forsberg chose his destination, he likes the makup of the team and he believes they can win. He's also friends with Kariya. Same should apply for next year. We'll see...

Given Forsberg's ability to produce in the playoffs, at least it would make sense for the Red Wings. Edited by RyanBarnes!
