Think you posted the wrong link...? there was nothing spectacular in that video either.

You think that Kovalev goal was nothing spectacular? I strongly disagree.

I like this one a lot too:

You werent a Wings fan in 96 were you?

Let's be realistic--it's a classic goal, but not an awe-inspiring one. Shanahan has scored hundreds of goals in that same fashion--the only difference was that few of them were at extremely crucial times.

So the meaningless goal from Ovechkin, which was extremely lucky to even come close to the net, was better then the goal Yzerman scored to win that series? Let's also take a look at the significance of these goals. Yzermans goal won them the series, in overtime nonetheless. Ovechkin's goal came at the tail end of a game that was already a blowout. And yes, it really meant something in the long run too, considering the Capitals finished 14th in the Eastern Conference, and were 5th worst in the league. The two aren't even comparable, so don't even try.

And I'd like to add something on the Ovechkin goal: Is it a big deal only because he scored it? What would have happened if a 4th liner on Washington would have scored it? Would anyone have taken as much notice to it?

"Better" is--in my mind-- not defined by "when." Ovechkin's goal required great awareness, skill and speed, while Stevie just took an accurate slapshot. The context does not denote the skill involved.

I think a better comparison would be Stevie's 500th against Pittsburgh. I challenge anyone to tell me that his goal against St. Louis was better.

MrSandman was owned by hockey town redwings for lagging brain cells in 96'.

That's MrSandMan to you, mister.

I never claimed it was the best NHL goal of all the time. I was just inquiring about MrSandMan's claim it was a cup winning goal.

Here is the craziest goal ever! The only problem is it was used in a skills comp. not an actuall game, but still

I met his mom at a Toledo Storm playoff game a few years ago. He had been sent down to the Reading Royals and his mom was talking to my mom when she said her son played for Reading. I dont remember if I had seen this goal then or if this happened afterwards.

I had relations with his mother a few years ago.

Guess what makes it more special than what it was is the fact that iit was the GW for the cup.

The Mac goal was sweet... Esp for a mac goal. But I've saw better from zets and hank and a gazillion other players.

First off, you must not have been paying much attention huh, we could never play the blues in the cup finals, that was the semi's.

Secondly, whats the difference between these to people, zets and hank? arent they one in the same?

I HATE MICHIGAN HOCKEY FOR ETERNITY AND MORE, but grudgingly the best goal I ever saw was some time in the late 90's I think, where the Michigan player (it doesn't matter who it was, he was wearing ugly "maize") is standing behind his net, gets the puck to stand stationary on his stick, lifts it into the air, wraps it around the goal and flips it inside the pipe lacrosse style. And it was in the Frozen Four! I could not believe that goal; it made me sick, but it was on ESPN for a long time.

I believe it was none other than Brendan Morrison currently of the Vancouver Canucks.

I'm not saying this is the best goal ever, but in Datsyuk's rookie year he made an assist on St. Louis ( I think) where he was behind the net, made a little pass to himself off the net around a D. then came up and made a pass between another D's legs right to Boyd who whacked it in. Mickey Redmond went beserk on that goal and it was just sick. I can NEVER find a video of that one - even wrote to Pavel's website asking to see it.

Edit:

Here is a description of it:

http://www.letsgowings.com/newsroom/2001-2...01/26blues.html

"St. Louis' Salvador may have hardly heard of rookie Pavel Datsyuk, but it's a name he won't soon forget after Saturday's contest. Datsyuk eluded Salvador to help set up Hull's second goal, and Datsyuk made an even nicer play on Salvador to set up Detroit's fourth goal.

Behind the Blues' net with Salvador coming at him, Datsyuk banked a pass to himself off the back of the net and cut free from a boggled Salvador. Datsyuk quickly threaded a pass between the legs of Cory Stillman to Boyd Devereaux in the slot for the goal."

Umm....isn't he talking about the Mike Legg goal? I personally like the similar play by Crosby, was more smooth if you ask me. Either way, I thought we were talking NHL.
