Update on Holland's search for forwards.

Couldn't agree with you more. I don't why all you Schneider haters wanna get rid of him for a guy that doesn't seem like he wants to step up his game. Krownwall WAS suppose to be a great offensive talent, but 1 goal in 50 games.... come on. Last time I checked, since Krownwall was back from his groun injury in mid december, he hasn't don't jack.

Wow... Finally somebody here (other than me) thinks Kronwall is extremely overrated. THANK YOU!

FYI I really don't see how Kronwall has played any better than Schneider when he was gone due to his knee injury. Kronwall gave the puck way just as much, if not more, than Schneider. To say that Kronwall is better defensively than Schneider makes no sense to me.

Smart. Good negotiating tactics by Holland.

Like Barnes 52 said a few days ago though, Guerin could have been had for very little this past season. A couple million dollars.

Now he might cost a first round pick and a decent prospect.

I don't know why Holland continues to wait until the deadline to fill gaps in the roster that are obvious even before the preseason starts. Why the hell does he wait until February when the bidding war begins to address this team's needs?

Anyway.

From what the organization was saying during the offseason (and around Christmas) they didn't expect to be at the top of the league this year. If I remember correctly Jimmy D. stated that they were a couple years away from being a top team again. If your expectation aren't that high, why sign Guerin in the offseason, when Hudler, and Kopecky are out of options, Flip is ready to make the jump, and Willy is coming off a career year?

Defensemen take longer to develop than any other position. He is a great player, and definitely plays beyond his experience level- of course he's going to make mistakes; he's played 97 games in the NHL and has yet to play entire season.

Honestly, I dont think he has a clue what this team needs in the off season.

He weathers the fan hate storm telling them what he hears they want him to say.

Then goes about his own clueless agenda.

Then the deadline comes and goes everyone is "too expensive".

DUH!

Furthermore, I really couldn't care less if Marty comes here and doesn't score one goal. As long as he takes care of the rough stuff, that's all we really are expecting out of him.

* edited for speliing.

My point? If you want that, bring up Norton or pick up some other 4th liner who only hits. We could get 5 of those for $2.4m.

I don't think that you realize that there is no "fan storm" to weather, outside of a few loonies on this website.

I know that, but most people act like he already is a complete defensemen and can take over for Schneider instantly. While Schneider does makes mistakes, he doesn't make nearly as many as Kronwall. I'm not saying Kronwall won't get better, he probably will, but he's not better than Schneider as of right now.

Oh, I don't disagree with you at all there. Maybe someday though..

He was damn cheap too. They could've easily fit him under the cap. Even Sykora wouldn't have been a bad addition.

Hindsight.

In addition to that, he was taken by the time Shanahan decided not to resign.

I'm fine with a cheaper fighter. I just don't want Norton. And believe me, we're all in agreement that Marty is currently overpaid.

I just think people get why we would get LaPointe mixed up with why we would get another scoring winger.
