What about this…

Coyotes' Laraque about to be dealt?

''We haven't really got to a point where anything is imminent, but obviously we'll explore everything,'' Gretzky said to The Arizona Republic. ''He's a good young man, it's just sometimes things don't work out and right now maybe (a trade) is the best situation for both sides.''

It all depends on their asking price... but if Carter can go for a 5th rounder, I see no reason why we can't get Laraque for a mid-round draft pick of some sort. I think he could be a good fit and add some protection.

I agree. I just don't know how much he fights but I think he does if he has to. He's listed at 6'-3", 243 lbs.

Are you kidding?? That would be the ONLY reason I would like to have Laraque on the Wings Protection. Thats about all he is good for and the only reason he ever went pro. Think of a heavy weight boxer on skates thats Laraque

For those of you who don't know much about the guy here are a few websites his official site and a fans site.

Do you smell what Laraque is cooking???? http://www.laraque27.com/

OK, for being a goon, he's put up respectable numbers this year.

Funny thing is that the TSN bio states that he "doesn't drop the gloves enough".

Laraque is one of the premier fighters in the league.

There's really no need for a pure-bred enforcer like Laraque.

And he's a horrible skater.

He may be our only option. I'll play him over Langfeld. Won't you?

Laraque is going to the Pens...

Hockeyfights.com:

Last howl for Laraque

The word in Pittsburgh via ESPN Radio 1250AM is the Penguins have made a trade with the Phoenix Coyotes for Georges Laraque. Laraque still has to waive his no-trade clause for the deal to be completed.

No more cheapshots against Sid.

Damn, I really want to get this guy to be a Wing, since the begining of the year, I've been hoping because he is a good fighter, and is strong, beat the hell out of the boogyman. He also seems to be pretty classy, if you watch how he acts, and listen to him when he was mic'd up before a fight.

The more I think about, get him! it's like automatically getting Hank and Pavel a really tough big brother on the playground. It will end a lot of BS right away. Still, just him alone is not enough to finish the puzzle for the playoffs. One gritty-ish winger - doesn't have to be top 6, just a guy with heart.

I think that would be outstanding for Pitt to also get Boynton, which it mentioned in the article. Crosby sure as hell wont have to be worried about protection anymore, Pittsburgh would be right up there with Anaheim as toughest team in the league. They'd have numerous guys on the team ready to throw down.

...Petrovicky, Ruutu, Armstrong, Thorburn, Orpik.

Not to say all those guys would be in the lineup at the same time...but thats scary tough.
