Holland: Wings won't deal unless prices come down

Well I read that Guerin and Tkachuk have already been told they will be traded. Anyways, I just saw on the Blues forum that Manny is out with a lower body injured.

the most recent news out of St. Louis is:

""Davidson also said the Blues were not close on deals for Bill Guerin and Keith Tkachuk, who will be unrestricted free agents this summer. The NHL trade deadline is Tuesday.

"We had conversations again (Friday), and again there's nothing there yet that's finalized by any means," Davidson said. "When I say finalized, I mean we may trade, we may not trade. That's not been totally decided yet.""

The prices that the GM's are asking are too steep, but there is no reason why Holland can't add grit to this lineup. There are plenty of guys in the Nhl that will help the Wings that aren't the big guys that have been mentioned. If Holland can't aquire a top six winger because the prices are too steep then thats fine, but if he doesn't do anything at all to address this teams lack of grit by bringing in guys like Chris Gratton, Jamal Mayers players of this ilk. I refuse to believe that Holland can't bring in these types of players.

I do give him credit when he does something well, such as the Markov signing. I thought the value of his signing was very good. The Hasek signing outta left field was a risky move, but if he could stay healthy that would be a great move as well. But after losing to edm last year, he said he wanted to add toughness/grit, and he still hasn't addressed it yet (he might before the deadline). He still needed to add a top 6 winger after shanny left, and no matter what I'm still gonna say they should've taken care of it in the summer(unless they acquire someone by tuesday). As for the standings, don't bother lookin' at em unless your goal is to win the presidents cup. If that doesn't convince you, this should give you a

I see no evidence of a top-six winger's absence (see: Shanahan), nor do I see any lack of grit in those highlights. I see the Wings score four goals, I see a bit of faulty goaltending, and finally I see Andreas Lilja leave his man open twice in front of the net. How, indeed, is that a reality check as relates to your comments? I don't get it, other than that you appear to be panicking about our cup chances this year.

At least he wont mortgage our future for one trade.

Indeed. I think even the pessimists/scapegoaters of the forum know this, so in their search for someone to blame--so as to reinforce their barrier of defensive pessimism-- they resort to slamming Holland for what he did or didn't do 6-8 months ago.

EDIT: "dickheads of this forum" did not refer to everyone, only pessimists/scapegoaters.

^^^ Utterly worthless comment.

not to attack you personally,..but seriously if you say this, (later on you called the posters of this board dickheads), You open yourself up for a "hey add something yourself"........you can't remove the speck from you neighbors eye if you have a plank in yours. Would it be to hard to treat people with half a degree of respect when you talk to them? I don't remember you being a mod,...nor do i remember you being a walking hockey source guide like some other well respected poster,..... you don't provide anything to the people who frequent this board like the very awesome wings fans who make all our sigs,....and finally i don't remember you being a guy like southernwingsfan who's been here forever and has earned that right. Those are people who have earned the right to be important,..you not so much, So until you do, stop running around like you own this board telling everyone there opinions are "worthless"

Yeah like he was such a force in that game, let alone the whole series. As a matter of fact, I see no evidence of top 6 winger's absence by the oilers. "No lack of grit?" They were often losing battles along the boards, or in the front of the net. Although the 4th line Franzen-Cleary-Maltby was very good, but further grit/toughness needed to be addressed.

More like the oilers scored 4 goals, but whatever.

I see a bit of faulty goaltending, and finally I see Andreas Lilja leave his man open twice in front of the net.

ditto

The fact that they were the best team in the reg. season, but get eliminated early. How much longer should this be tolerated?

I don't get it, other than that you appear to be panicking about our cup chances this year.

Oh we're fine, no need to worry. Anaheim, San Jose, Calgary are terrible and the wings will sweep them.

LOL. Again, this sense of entitlement. Why should this be tolerated? Wow. So, you can predict the future, huh? We'll be great in the regular season and lose in the playoffs? In any case.. wow! Entitlement galore! Guess what? This team owes you nothing. I imagine you only watch them on TV, on cable channels which you'd probably have anyway. Even if you go to the games, and buy the merchandise, you're still just buying the product that is the Red Wings. Don't like it? Go buy another product, like the Kings.

I do not classify opinions as worthless. No such thing exists as a worthless opinion. I classify actions as worthless. Attacking somebody's actions in the distant past will accomplish nothing.

"The dickheads of this forum" refers to those whom I consider dickheads, not to everyone. Thanks for pointing that misconception out. I'll edit it.

^^^^^^Stupid post of the day right there. Its called being passionate, People have their own ideas that may seperate themselves from other ideas, but its only because they want their teams to be successful, and thats what its all about. If you can't take any criticism, I don't know if you should be on here telling people what to do. And if people actually stopped following/buying the product, this site wouldn't exist. As a matter of fact, you have no right to tell others what to do regardless of whether they spend their money or not. Thats not the way it works in this world.
