How badly can you misspell hockey names?

Some names that come to mind when I think of confusing names...

Sergei Krivokrasov

Evgeny Artyukhin

Yutaka Fukufuji

Branko Radivojevic

Curtis Leschyshyn

Eric Boguniecki

Carlo Colaiacovo

Mariusz Czerkawski

Tomas Fleischmann

Joe Nieuwendyk

Andrew Wozniewski

Daniel or Mathias Tjarnqvist

Ryan Vandenbussche

If it wasn't for research, none of these would be spelled right at all.

"FEDEROV" drives me banana sandwich.

I was just going to say that. Fedorov. Afinogenov, I could understand messing up...

It really lends credibility to any comment made about a player, if one can actually spell his name correctly. It also drives me nuts that announcers cannot pronounce names correctly or don't try. Last night the Det announcers were arguing over FILppula vs. FilpPUla. Help me? And Hasek is Hah-Shek, not some weird alteration of a simple name. Lordy...

Larionov is one most people (non-Wings fans) can't spell right.

Slightly OT: I don't know that people get the spelling wrong, but what was Ron Tugnutt thinking, becoming a goalie!!??

Lindstrom is actually a player. Not the one who gets the norris every year tho.

and when youre a french, lotsa names sound oddly similar, like Eric Stall and Jerik Stoll lol.

i just like to massacre names on purpose, to make fun of people who do it unintentitionally.

Vinnesinnt Dimvaouze scores on Dgeguerr.

I know, but I think NHL.com just hasn't taken the time to look into it.

Lazy B*stards

In Sweden they dont have a "W" so its pronounced with a "V"...Like SVERIGE if youhave ever herad the Swedes talk they say Kronvall or Sveden.

Helps being an english minor and knowing a thing or two about linguistic patterns.

hope that helps

Homer, Dats, and Schnides are the ones I screw up the most, thus the reason for me calling them nicknames. If this wasn't a Wings board, I would have typed them out, since no one would know who I would be talking about.
