Agreed, darks just look better. They tend to be more intimidating to ther teams too, not that they arent intimidated enough just by having to play in detroit with the detroit fans around them haha

Olympia Stadium Fan 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2007 I like the red uniforms better than the whites but would like to see the latter at home. That way you can better see the variety of colors of the opponents' uniforms.
My GF Wishes I Was Hank 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2007 Home Whites all the way! The team looks a lot better winning the cup in their home whites! Well a cup victory looks great in any color wings jersey, but the darks just seem so much more traditional. I dont know why. I like the whites too but the reds just seem to make more sense since we are the RED wings.

In the 50s, the home team wore white jerseys for a while, but from the mid-50s through 69-70 they wore the colored jerseys at home. I remember my first game at Olympia in March, 1970, and the sight of Howe, Delvecchio and company taking the ice in bright red just blew me away.
TheLegend19 1 Report post Posted March 12, 2007 I've seen this quite a bit lately with the home team wearing the whites. And yeah, they need to switch it back, and going to the new jerseys next year is the perfect time to do this. I agree. I've never liked the dark jerseys at home, except in football. Offsides 21 Report post Posted March 12, 2007 And that's only IF we were to win the Cup at home which would be one game. If I have to see the Wings live for up to 41 games I want red

Flip-check 6 Report post Posted March 12, 2007 I don't know if anyone caught Matlby today. He came out for the warm up and had pulled a Hudler. He was wearing the red helmet. Classic. I was trying to get a pic but somone had told him so he whent and switched helmets. It was pretty funny. I'd kind of figure he was -making fun- of Rex... but maybe it really was a goof. It'd be such a great in-joke to keep playing every few games though, hahahha

Bender 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2007 (edited) IMHO, dark colors at home are traditional but I have personally always liked the Wings in whites better at home for some reason. Eh, I think we are fortunate that the Wings jerseys look great either way though - so it really doesn't make any difference to me. Of course, I also think that the league just needs to make a frackin' decision and actually stick with it for once. edit: As far as I know, anytime a visiting team wears 3rd jerseys, the home team is supposed to where white so the home fans get to see a different look too. Guest Don Corleone Report post Posted March 12, 2007 Anyone know whether the Wings are trying to re-establish the wearing of the white jerseys at home? We did it vs. Chicago last Friday, then today again vs. Boston... That's the way it should be. Maybe the league will re-think this.
