Exactly , how someone can think Danny hasent been a great second line player this year is beyond me.

Anotehr thing he hits guys , hes a tough SOB , and a hes got more heart in him then most second line players

Yeah, I almost cried in the last game he played; he had a stick shoved into his ribs, but still mustered the effort to get up and try for a deflection on a shot by Lidstrom. Most players would have just hit the ice and stayed there.

Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Holmstrom YOU CANNOT MANUFACTURE CHEMISTRY
Calder - Lang - Bertuzzi
Franzen - Filppula - Cleary
Draper - Maltby - Sammy

Having Hudler as a 13th is a great position to be in. Now, if any s***head comes in and decides to take shifts off in the playoffs or just flat out sucks, Hudler comes in and we dont have to worry about it.

Ditto except I'd put the Mule with Drapes and Malts as a grinding/energy line. Sammy can bump up to the third line.

Also, I want little Rex in there somewhere. Flip and him should just rotate every other game! sad.gif laugh.gif

Huddles instead of Flip biggrin.gif

Although, guaranteed SOMEONE will be injured. They will probably both play.

edit: BTW, I think it's stupid to never change up line combos, or to rely only one one set group of people playing together. If we get injured in the playoffs that would bite us in the behind...so breaking up good lines that we know work is not bad, we can always put them back if the new lines don't work.

Absolutely agree with that. I'm all for line changes if it's going to spark something up. Sometimes it's exactly what the team needs. I think it's rare to see certain lines stick together throughout the entire season/playoffs. Certain lines that are great for now aren't always going to be that way. The Dats/Hank/Homer line has been amazing, but come playoff time that could all change. *Not saying at all that's what's going to happen* BUT I don't think it's at all a bad idea to change up the lines every now and then, especially if things aren't clicking. I 'd really like to see how a line of Pav/Hank/Bert would be come playoff time. It'd be great having Bert on that line..especially to protect the two.

Huddles instead of Flip biggrin.gif

*crosses fingers*

I feel SO bad saying that though, because they are both fantastic. But then again, I look at the limited ice time Huds gets and see how much he produces with that and I just think WOW imagine what he'd be like with a good amount of playing time. He can easily dominate a game. Easily!

Why would you put Franzen on the checking line, when he has proven that he is a very good scorer on a scoring line but can score ABSOLUTELY none on the checking line? He's a better scorer than Sammy and, unlike Sammy, can skate hard, chase the puck with energy, and set up other players.

CRAP...

I did forget Bertuzzi...I don't know why but I did:

Here is my new proposal, sorry if its a repeat.

Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Bertuzzi
Hudler-Lang-Calder
Cleary-Filpulla-Holmstrom
Franzen-Draper-Samuelsson

I love Maltby but I honestly think he brings the least to the table.

Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Holmstrom
Calder - Lang - Bertuzzi
Hudler- Filppula - Franzen
Maltby - Draper - Cleary

Hudler has been playing too well to be benching come playoff time... he has 2 goals 2nite vs NSH... clap.gif

Sammy is good... but i dont see a spot other than #13...

At this rate, Hudler'll be kept with Lang and Calder.

Cleary - Filpulla - Bert

W/o Flip: Cleary - Franzen - Bert

Franzen on the checking line is the least of all evils, I suppose.

See I see it the other way around. IMO, while I like Franzen more I believe Sammy is more of a goal scorer. Franzen belongs with Drapes and Malts because they all are fast, fiesty, grinding players that can set the tone/ shift the momentum of a game with their energy, and hard work.

I like Flip, and I've heard a lot of people say that Flip is better, but I honestly think Huds has been better and done more in less playing time. Also, very timely goals. Imagine what he'd do with more time. He's been very awesome.

Again, showed the same tonight...awesome.

Hopefully Flips isn't too hurt though.

I agree that Huds is a better player and it's so great to see Babs having some faith in him by putting him out there in all situations.

Looks real good to me. Hudler has been playing great with Calder and Lang. Keep them together and try Big Bert with Zetts and Dats!! biggrin.gif

EDIT: I should add, it's the PP I can't wait to see!!

If it were my choice, lines would look like this:

Dats-Zetterburg-Holmstrom

Hudler-Lang-Bertuzzi

Calder-Filppula-Cleary

Frazen-Draper-Maltby

Samuelsson

Three strong lines that can score and two that can grind (the third I see as overlapping). The big plus I see in this thread is the embarrassment of riches we have on the team if all are healthy. Basically any of the line combos suggested would be strong, and the team's recent play with so many key players out shows the true depth of the organization. I just hope we can get all or most of the team clicking this year in the playoffs.

All I know is this...Hudler better keep scoring and busting his butt, because if he cools off for an extended period down the stretch he'll be in the press box for Game 1, provided everyone is back healthy. Babcock will find any excuse to sit him.

Flip and Huds are better than Sammy, and that's what it comes down to when deciding on rosters.

For all those who think Maltby is going to sit:

We will see Bin Laden in the JLA press box calling the game with Mickey before Maltby sits as a healthy scratch...

Babcock loves Maltby and he has too much experience and worth to the PK for him to just be a healthy scratch. Never gonna happen guys. Dont even waste your energy typing it...

I posted this in another thread:

I think Babcock will end up splitting up Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Bertuzzi will be on Datsyuk's wing to create space for him when things get tighter in the playoffs. The Swede line from last year will be back together.

Samuelsson-Zetterberg-Holmstrom
Cleary/Filppula-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi
Calder-Lang-Hudler
Franzen-Draper-Maltby

Three lines that can score. It wont put too much pressure on one line. If worse comes to worst and the Wings are in a must-score situation, put Zetterberg and Datsyuk together again with Bertuzzi or Holmstrom. These lines looking much more balanced than last year (ex. No Williams, no Draper in the top six); each line looks responsible defensively except maybe the third. However, Lang will turn it over whatever line he's on. You've got some size on each line, some great offensive talent, and guys who will bust their asses.
In a 2005 study published by the journal Nature, researchers at Durham University in England concluded that, across a range of sports, we found that wearing red is consistently associated with a higher probability of winning. The researchers also suggested that red's effect may subconsciously intimidate opponents in athletic contests, especially when the athletes are equal in skill and strength.
