DRW#40 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 Hi Everyone, I'm new to the boards, and have been a die hard red wings fan since i was young and found out about the NHL via video games and Australian pay TV. I just wanted to get your thoughts on your best lineups from the East and West. I am interested to see who Aussie fans think are good players and who international fans think are, so let me know where u are from as well as your teams. Just want to see if there are differences of opinion from the amount of coverage us Aussies get compared to everyone else. I will go first, to show u what I mean: EAST - W Hossa, Marian W Heatley, Dany C Crosby, Sidney D Gonchar, Sergei D Campbell, Brian G Brodeur, Martin Missing Fav - Briere, Danial (Just couldn't fit him in) WEST - W Iginla, Jarome W Havlat, Martin C Zetterberg, Henrik D Lidstrom, Nicklas D Pronger, Chris G Luongo, Roberto

Glad to have you here. I think there are a few other fans from down under here on the board. You all should try and hook up for a playoff game or something! I would have never guessed Wings fans could be found so far away, but I think it is great. Can I ask, how often do you see games? What about playoffs? How reliable is the web for you for watching games? Let us know if you need help finding feeds - I am sure we can all pitch in and find something for you if you need it! Cheers Mate, yeah there seems to be a few Aussies here! Any of you let me know where u are located and we can talk Aussie hockey, season starts next month. I have been a Red Wings fan since i was about 11, all started watching Stevie Y highlights and playing NHL '93 on the old Sega! And to answer your questions i usually see 2 games a week due to the crap broadcast rights here in Australia, cos that all we get, but i hope we will get better coverage during the playoffs. Fingers crossed. But the best thing is, most games start here @ 10.30 am so i get to listen to a few games a day via NHL Radio while i'm at work. Trust me nothing is better than everyday, doing work and listing to Hockey, makes the work fly! - Rick from Buffalo is one of my favorite announcers! But if there is a big game like Buffalo Vs Ottawa, i always download it and enjoy it with a few beers. Also NHL youtube is the friggin the best. Thanks for offering to help out, if u know any other decent torrent sites in which to download games from please let me know as mininova.org is getting worse. Thanks

Thanks Always good to see how far the Red WIng influence has extended. I myself have been to Australia on several occasions. I absolutley love the country. Seems I am not the only Canadian to feel that way, lots of Canadians living down there. What league/team do you play for? Anyway, hope to talk to you on here in the future. Welcome aboard. DRW#40 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2007 What league/team do you play for? I play Floorball in the MFL (Melbourne Floorball League) and just starting up RollerHockey. Don't play Ice Hockey cos we only really have 1 crap rink and its to far away from where i live.
motorcitykid 42 Report post Posted March 16, 2007 Wow, no one takes Dion interesting He seemed to be saying best lineups right now. If you're building a team, you start with Luongo and build on out, including Dion after him. Don't tell Holland that though.

Yeah, during one of my stints down under I actually played casually in one of the ice hockey leagues. It was really interesting to see. Must agree with you about the state of most rinks in aussie. Did feel kinda bad for ya. I was somewhat shocked to see some of the decent talent level of some of the players. There are some talented boys there, all be it, a few. (nothing against aussie, its just a young sport... yet to really catch hold) It did make it fun though. Melbourne is a great city. Though, I have yet to see it in full summer. I found it very difficult to find NHL games while I was down there, especially to be fortunate enough to come across a Red Wing game. Though I did find a few places which would get the game for me. Malkin is a great rookie, but he is not amongst the elite yet. He has no business being there before Heatley or Hossa. He's also a centerman anyway.
WhiteLightning91 105 Report post Posted March 16, 2007 Malkin is a great rookie, but he is not amongst the elite yet. He has no business being there before Heatley or Hossa. He's also a centerman anyway. I can't think of anyone else in the East who has more chemistry than Malkin with Crosby. That's why I put him there. And he has played the wing position both in Pittsburgh and in the RSL numberous times throughout his career so it shouldn't be something that would be all that difficult for him. He really doesn't have much chemistry at all with Crosby. They very rarely play together and when they do, there really isn't much chemistry. The reason there isn't much chemistry is because they do not play or practice together, not because the combination simply wouldn't work. They are successful sometimes when they play together, but that is more a product of skill, not chemistry. I'm sure Crosby and Heatley or Hossa would work just fine. I think Crosby probably has the best chemistry with Bergeron.
