Therefore, it would be RIDICULOUS to move Columbus before the Wings. the league has't learn its lesson,get rid of some teams in florida,atlanta.then maybe move a team vegas. Yeah, but Buttman said that as long as an owner in Atlanta or Florida wants a team and there's an ownder there the team stays. wingsfan75 2 Report post Posted March 16, 2007 I personally think the idea of expansion has some merit. They would open up a huge market base in Vegas for one. The Seattle idea isn't so bad. They had a team there once before. I'd love to see a true eastern and western conference instead of the band-aid that they have now. I like the idea of two more teams in west. I don't like the idea of messing with the point system though. I agree with the person who said make OT 5 on 5. I've said that here before. Must learn to type faster What you are trying to say is that Columbus is 200 miles further east than Detroit? It's about 200 miles from Detroit a little past Cleveland towards the OH/PA stateline. A degree of longitude can (apparently) vary between 0 to 111KM. assuming the 111KM figure (which works out to about 69 Miles of 5280 feet per mile)....We would get 364320 feet per degree of longitude. A degree of longitude can be broken down into 60 minute intervals as well as each minute interval can be broken down into 60 second intervals.... A difference of 2 minutes and 49 seconds would work out to something like this.... 364320/60 = 6072 6072/60= 101.2 2 minutes would equal about 12144, or a bit over 2 miles (2.3 to be exact) We have 49 seconds as well (at a corresponding 101.2 per second) 101.2 * 49 = 4958.8... added all together, we get 12144 + 4958.8 = 17102.8 or about 3.24 (rounded) miles.... for completeness, all figures were taken from wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longitude Also, upon thinking about it, and further reading the Wiki page, as you go further north, or south if you are south of the Equator, Longitude lines get squeezed together a bit more. Stop trying to get all these bandwagoners who know nothing about it into the sport, because it just won't work. 30 teams is enough as it is. In fact, it's already too many. Here's my better argument; Detroit is geographically closer to an eastern conference team that has changed conferences already than Columbus Also, Detroit has been in the league longer and has seniority is choosing if they want to move. Detroit has more rivals in the east than Columbus. Detroit is smarter than Columbus. And I'm pretty sure Detroit's dad can beat up Columbus' dad. Damn Britishweights and measures system.
