that is some tough competition

Yeah, I wouldn't be fussed if he was #3 there, but there is no way Modano should be ahead of him.....which he isn't in the poll, so I don't have issue with it.

I would have voted for Sakic though, I don't think Brodeur should have that much of a lead.

It did take some time before the rest of the league knew what Wings' fan knew almost from the start. Nick is one of the best at his position all time. His style of play lends to the slow affect he had when it came to respect. He's not flashy, he's a good family man, he doesn't make many headlines (good or bad) outside of hockey. He's consistant and his quiet, almost flawless, postiional play doesnt get noticed as easily. In this day and age of pro sports, steriod use, gambling, drug use, pro athletes in and out of the news and prison, Nick doesn't capture the spotlight His flying somewhat below the radar isn't always a bad thing.

well, the national media has been flooding the market with Brodeur porpaganda for about 75 years now, so you have to expect that kind of result. there is nobody else worth mentionning in Jersey right now, whereas Detroit has had a constant slew of stars that they drafted themselves : too many too mention. When you have the best team, soetimes you have to give up a little perosnal popularity.

if you scroll down the page you'll see a poll ......

Who is the best player still playing with the team he was drafted by?

Mike Modano

Joe Sakic

Martin Brodeur

Nicklas Lidstrom

our boy has only 8% !! , support our boy ! :P

Lidstrom is pretty low key, as compared to those guys; he's a defenseman. Many of his actions, while very important, are subtle. Meanwhile, Brodeur makes incredible saves game after game, and Sakic and Modano score a lot. That's visible.

Wow people like to ***** about everything. Yes he's the best player on our team and yes he's one of the best D in the league, but that company he's with is elite. He's definetly above Modano, but Brodeur I would say is one of the best Goalies to ever play the game. Sakic and Lidstrom would be close, but I'd go with Sakc becasue he played a much longer career with the Avs, and was there star player for much longer. Lidstrom was living behind the shadow of Yzerman for a while, I believe the list is right. Lidstrom is great no doubt, but not the greatest.

Vote has been placed

One of the better polls I've seen in a while...

Wow, I at least thought he'd be ahead of Modano...

Modano had 2% and Lids had 10% when I checked

Oh no, Lidstrom's not one of the best in an online poll, heaven forbid!!!!

Don't really see the big deal in getting panties in a bunch on this one, we all know he's arguably the best d-man in the league today. Why worry about what other sites/people think?
