Token 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 So far Malkin is the obvious favorite for the calder, The others in the running are the likes of Staal and Stastny, who do you guys think should win?
Zeta Power 40 1 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 give it to Kyle Calder! It's his trophy.
akustyk 84 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 I guess it's gonna be Staal or Stastny just to show it's not just Russians who steal this hardware
Never_Retire_Steve 35 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Malkin hands down
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Dont forget Kopitar. I dont care how many shorties Staal's got or how many points in a row Stastny has, it should be Malkin. 30 goals, most points, fewest games of all 3. 5 GWG, 1 OT. Yeah Staal's got 28 goals, but hes got a lousy 10 assists. Ultimately, I bet one of the Canadians win. Malkin is been so underrated this year its frickin sick. Hes tearing it up with nearly 80 points and all you hear about are the Canadians.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Staal's got no business being anywhere near the Calder.
joshy207 156 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Staal gets the Cy Young though. 28-10 is a hell of a record!
BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Malkin is the hands down winner, probably the easiest Calder win in a while. Not a knock to obvious runner ups Stastny and Staal who are and will be amazing, but Malkin gets my unanimous pick.
Guest Tunbo Batman Report post Posted March 22, 2007 I would give the Calder to....Calder :D
interminded 1 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Probably Malkin, with Stasny as a suprise winner.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Malkin will win it, with Stastny and Malkin as runners up. No way Staal wins it. 28 goals yet only 10 assists? Those are probably numbers you'd expect from Jason Blake, who wouldn't pass the puck if it was on fire.
FinWing 26 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 I'll be amazed if someone other than Malkin takes the cake, although Stastny has emerged as a dark horse thanks to his hot points streak. What about defensemen, are there any legit contenders? Matt Carle?
kozac 10 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Stall plays 5 minutes less than Malkin and sees no power play time, also Stall is a +17 and Malkin was a minus most of the year so an argument CAN be made for Staal. (Plus he's Canadian which always helps)
WingNutt 12 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Malkin hands down. Like Ovechkin said before the season started Malkin will win the Calder.
FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 What about defensemen, are there any legit contenders? Matt Carle? I'd say he doesn't have a chance. AO & Sid > Phaneuf = Malkin & Stastny > Carle A little mathematics
FinWing 26 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 I'd say he doesn't have a chance. AO & Sid > Phaneuf = Malkin & Stastny > Carle A little mathematics That's how it probably is, just trying not to discriminate those poor little defensemen on the basis of scoring. Being that all of AO, Sid and Malkin are exceptional players, not much chance for others to get the same kind of credit.
BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Malkin will win it, with Stastny and Malkin as runners up. Who's this, Sergei Malkin?
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 Who's this, Sergei Malkin? I meant to put Kopitar. By the way, is there a Sergei Malkin?
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted March 22, 2007 By the way, is there a Sergei Malkin? Yes, but I don't think he plays hockey. http://www.laton.at/artists/radius.html
