SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 Samuelsson isn't useless, but he can be utterly frustrating. He doesn't do anything just completely horrible in my mind, but unless he's on a hot streak, he's just kinda 'there' in the game. It's a catch-22, a lot of his shots are wasted efforts, but you never know when it will yield a goofy rebound/wicked bounce off the boards. I'm not going to throw a temper tantrum if he's favored over Rex or Flipper in terms of the last guy being scratched (if everybody is healthy), but I'd like to see Rex/Flipper out there first. I like how Babcock is constantly on Hudler's rear, pushing him even when he does well because I think he knows that Hudler can be one helluva player for years to come if he keeps working hard, but I think Rex has earned his shot for more playing time (whenever everybody is healthy). How can you not be pissed if Flip or Rex are benched over Sammy? They are more skilled, more passionate, and more hardworking than Sammy has ever been since hes laced them up. Filppula and Hudler are flat out better than Samuelsson in almost every way - the excpetion being size and Hudlers defensive abilities, but with Calder, Hank, Datsyuk, Flip, Maltby, Franzen, and Draper on the team, Sammy's average D skills become useless. The sad thing is, I fully expect him to play over one of the rookies. Edited March 26, 2007 by YoungGuns1340
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 (edited) I just don't get pissed off or irked at a lot of things that other people get ticked about in here and I'm willing to be patient. Besides, we aren't going to control what the coaches do/don't do and we're not going to have any influence on Babcock's decision making now or in the future, so why waste the effort of losing your hair at an early age then? theman19 47 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 it kinda boogles my mind when we as a team don't bench overrated ineffective verterans in place of young scoring youngsters. Flip and hudler are effective and doing very well, why on earth would we as a team put them out for a guy who has been. Yet as i say that i know that either flip or rex will be out playoff time. silkyjohnson13 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 Which brings me to this, why won't Babcock give Chelios any PP time? He's said many times he'd like to sink his teeth into it, and I'd say he'd be a better right handed point guy than Sammy. Have you seen Chelios's offensive game of late? He cannot control his shot at all - he's hit more people(refs included) than anybody i know - and those people are usually nowhere near the target. I agree that i don't want Sammy out there on the point but Chelios ain't better.

Viperar 16 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 Chelios is a D man he isn't supposed to score so...... we're not ripping chelios saying since he isnt scoring he isnt of use. He just might not be the best to put on the PP as someone above suggested. He shouldnt replace scoring D men like lids or schneids on the PP
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 (edited) Chelios is not counted on to score goals. We have Lidstrom and Schneider to do that. Chelios best strength is his PK ability and being a good shutdown defenseman. At his age, he is still really good it. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 "They know Z (Zetterberg) is coming back, and someone isn't going to play. They're making the case for it not being one of them, and I like that. "They're sending the message that 'You'll be sitting, and we aren't.' " God willing, make it be Samuelsson.
