Euro schmuro :P I was more interested today in the United States win over Barbados, even though it was a flat steamrolling - in fact the worst loss Barbados has ever taken. First step on the road to the World Cup.

WHAT?

that US/Barbados game was a big time yawner. i guess the US was on the right side.

tomorrow should be fun,two euro games going on, only problem is BOTH games are on at once and thats just dumb. cause i want to watch them both.

Heh. I watched just about all that game.

While our country definitely has a decent roster, you got to have a respectable one if you are ranked aroun 20 in the FIFA futbol rankings, I think this was more due to Barbados just being inferior that day. I think I heard they were ranked 120 in FIFA futbol.

I expect though with Barbados playing at their home country and being humiliated last game, they will put up a better fight when they and the U.S. meet again on Sunday. I highly doubt we'll see another 8-0 affair, but as long as the U.S. plays calm, composed, and patient, they should win without much difficulty.

EDIT: And I did watch most of the Euro match before b/w the Turkey and the Czeck Republic. Helluva comeback by the Turks there coming back from a 2-0 deficit late.

I can't believe Turkey knocked out Croatia yesterday and Russia knocked out Netherlands today.

Russia have been strong all competition but it was still a big shock seeing them beat the Dutch the way they did . Arshavin and Pavlechenko are a very leathal strike partnership . Celtic had been getting linked with signing Pavlechenko before the tournament started , now they have no chance of doing so with the way he's playing. :(

Heh.....Barbados would have to beat us by 9 to knock us out of the World Cup anyway.

Good game so far between Russia and Spain , free flowing with plenty of chances for both team's . before the game the Russian striker Arshavin was getting talked up so much about moving to Barcelona and how he was one of the best strikers in the world . he's hardly been in the game .

The freakish weather over there cut out the Germany-Turkey feed here in America. So I did not get to enjoy the game. :(

I'm still pissed they beat Italy but I like Spain. They were by far the most consistent team in this tournament. They deserved it.

hahaha good lord, they beat a team of divers and primadonas. The only italians I feel bad for are buffon and gattuso, the only respectable men on that team

LOL I never saw this Italy hate. Anyway, BRTD and Al - I'm Italian. Why else would I support Italy?

Well that would make sense then. I still don't like 'em though. The soccer team, I mean. I've been to Italy and absolutely loved it, but that doesn't stop the national team from being the biggest divers and jakers in all of Europe, which is saying something. I guarantee you a huge reason soccer hasn't caught on in America like it has in Europe is because whenever it's on TV (which generally is once every four years) we look and we see all these players get a little bitty kick in the shins and go down screaming for Jesus to save their mortal soul because they're dying right there on the field. Until the stretcher guys come out and/or a foul is called, then they're miraculously OK until the next time they're touched. It turns off a lot of folk.

Yeah it turns off a lot of Australians too, including myself. However, I can't help but appreciate the skill and grace of the game when it's played by quality teams.

I'm currently trying to figure out why I chose to be a fan of Tottenham.

I'm also trying to figure out what team to root for while Tottenham is relegated next season, I'm thinking Celtic.

How about the other team from North London? You know the one that has a similar passing style like the Red Wings and also the same team colors. :shifty:

Become a gooner 4 life! :cool::wub:

Haha, one of my old roommates and best friends is an Arsenal fan and says almost verbatim the same thing. I don't see it happening.
