Great night for Hockey.

I was in Dayton, OH watching a Dayton Bombers game (they lost) and got plenty of bad looks for wearing my Wings jersey. I guess being in close proximity to Columbus after Sunday's game caused some bad feelings. Good thing they didn't see me after tonight's game.

Good for Hasek, Bert, Calder, and Dats.

Hasek for the Shutout, Bert and Calder for their goals, and Dats for the assists.

Good on you guys!

And good for the Hawks as well. I am glad to see Nashville finally knocked down where they belong!

It's kind of sad, this commercial for the Avs I just saw.

"The Avalanche are back on Altitude. You can watch Joe, Milan, Marek, and Jose, make their run for the Stanley Cup all season long."

Think someone would've been smart enough to pull that commercial by now.

The worst part of that is they apparently consider Theodore a big part of their team. :P

I see games like tonight's game being exactly what we'll see from time to time in the playoffs. With that being said I'm ecstatic to see us play a game we were actually outplayed in. Makes me even happier to see Calder and Bertuzzi get goals, the two guys we're banking on to add the playoff needed grit to our roster.

Love is a strong word, but I really, really, really, LOVE Calder. l;skdgksgs okay does anyone even know the song im repeating? Probably not..but the words are actually hate, but I changed it to love for KC!

Seriously he is absolutely great. I know I say it allll the time, but it's true. Not just because he scored tonight *which was a great goal* but because he plays consistently good and just goes out and does his job game in and out. He's by far my favorite Wing. *AFTER Ozzie that is* but yes.

What a goal by Bertuzzi off his own rebound. He's definitely clicking with the Wings and getting into game shape at the perfect time. What is that..twice now that he's injured someone just off a hit? Hahaha that is some great stuff.

Great game by Dom tonight. He was the difference in the first. Atta boy.

I think the central is pretty much wrapped up. *Even though not official because of the Preds getting a point* GO WINGS!!!!!!!

The Wings played like sh** for 2 periods, I can't believe they won this game. Hasek carried them on his back for 40 minutes and then they finally showed up.

Very pleased with Calder and Bertuzzi. With Franzen and Markov out there too, they're a much harder team to play against.

you are echoing what Babcock and Hasek both said postgame. Dom said the shut out was nice, but didn't mean that much to him. Bullsh*t, Dom! :P

Calder = best trade deal in the NHL. Who knew? He loves being a Wing. And Bert will just get better and better for us. They did all play like ca-ca tonight for the first 40-50 minutes, but then they took over. I don't believe I've watched more than 5 or 6 games this season (and I've seen all but 3) where they played full out for three whole periods. 5 or 6 could be generous, now that I really think about hit.

I'm getting tired of hearing "we need to play hard for the entire 60 minutes." Just DO it!!

"Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try."

im watching the avs/calgary game on sopcast.

does anyone actually think the avs have a real shot at catching a play-off spot?

id kinda like to see them make it in.

but they need a lot of bounces to go their way.

if im understanding right,

colorado can't lose another game in regulation,

but only lose one game in OT at the max and win the rest.

and for calgary what,

lose all of theirs cept one?

A simple observation about Calder and why I think he's an amazing fit for us. Even when he's not scoring, he's making a difference, when Williams wasn't scoring he was useless. Bertuzzi's much the same, in fact Bertuzzi actually has been effective doing nothing more than bracing himself against hits. Some of the most devestating damage he's layed out on opponent's have been from incodent he hasn't even started! I love these guys.

If Calgary gets as much as one point or Colorado loses as much as one point from here on out, it's lights out for Colorado's playoff chances this year. With that being said, the Avs are climbing a VERY steep mountain, not impossible but the odds are overwhelmingly against them.

Exactly. Calder doesn't need score or put up points game in and out to make a difference. He's a very talented, hard working, heart and soul type of player. He's made a difference for the short period he's been here, and I can't wait to see him in the playoffs. I'm really hoping this offseason Holland signs him long term.

Hahah Plain White T's

It was an ok win tonight, we didn't play with much intensity, but what are you gonna do?

Stay healthy boys!

great game in the third... but im waiting on the post about booing feds and how wrong it is. hahahahahahahahahaha

Well since you brought it up, the booing needs to stop, its been been going on for a long ass time.

I mean come on, he was amazing when he played with the Wings, and was big part of our success.

Just because a player leaves you don't need to boo him. Unless he did something horrible, which he didn't.

So... are you actually going to be at the Joe or just tooling around town?

I opted to drink myself blind at one of the pubs down the way. Hell with Joe Louis! ;)

No, we were there. It was a slow game... but it was pretty fun to be at regardless. There was one thing that bugged the hell out of me though: Booing Feds. It's like, wake the f*** up, he's been gone for 3+ years, and he isn't deserving of getting booed every single time he touches the puck, for the whole duration of the possession no less. Get over it, you fools.

It just makes the whole arena sound like a bunch of morons, to be honest. Mob mentality at one of its low-points. I would've been happy to see him shove a goal in their faces, if the shut-out were already soured and we for sure had the game in hand.

(

So it looks like Lint123 predicted it, so glad to be the destined one! I just noticed his comment after writing all that out)

But that rant aside, I've got some pictures from the warm-up that turned out decent... note to self: Make sure to get into a better position next time. I've never brought a camera down before also so it was a first, but I know that GREAT shots can be taken if you're set right and have an eye for them. I couldn't get all of the ideal photos that I wanted, but there will be a next time. These were fair, though, I think:

IPB Image

6:30p - We got there with time to spare, but I swear, in the Joe it goes unnoticed. Time flies.

IPB Image

Huds doin' his thang. He may be tiny, but this guy's definitely got the heart of a David amongst Goliaths.

IPB Image

Dom. Is like a CAT! =P

IPB Image

Since I haven't entered early to point cameras at players before, I didn't realize how awful a place to shoot from behind the Wings' bench is. I missed out on a lot of better front photos that I would have loved to have got.

Note: Malts' (?) laughing with Ozzie and Paul MacLean's disembodied, careworn visage on the left.

IPB Image

Like I told Rabia after getting home, Lilly and Lang I swear were hanging out at the middle of the ice while everybody did their thing. At least Lillypad had an excuse... obviously he was intimidated by seeing everyone skate -and- shoot out there, but Lang? Yeah, don't overexert yourself chasing that warm-up puck down.

IPB Image

I did like this one though. I have NO IDEA what Oz is doing with that catching mitt. ;D

IPB Image

Well, there could have been something like that. IPB Image I like the original copy.

IPB Image

Sergei, but I couldn't get a good one of him skating toward the bench. He kept his head down a lot when the chances availed themselves.

IPB Image

Ozzie again--obviously he's a good subject for the camera. He doesn't skate fast around the ice, like...

IPB Image

This guy. I grabbed him only when he was about to head off, but thank you for the speedy legs, hard hit, and timely GWG!

IPB Image

Bob looks ready for an oxygen treatment, as he's the last two or three (with Cheli) off the ice. He didn't take my advice earlier.

And last but not least...

IPB Image

John Keating. I dearly would have loved to hear a "You suck, John Keating!" (it would have been funny, admit it! ;) ), but I'm not that kind of person and it'd be awkward beside. A sign saying "FIRE MILLEN KEATING" would be great though.

That's it! There also are a few more photos in my Flickr photoset... Lilly, Lebs, and others, slapped up in a slideshow. I like the last one in it though. Here: linkage
