Could it be his wrist?

A little conspiracy theory action here.

Just wondering if the thought occured to anyone here.

Could it be Zetterberg's wrist that's causing him troubles and not his back?

It just seems so obvious, what a team like Calgary will focus on when Zetterberg comes back for the playoffs. They'll be laying the lumber on his spine non-stop.

What if it's really his wrist. And the team's trying to disguise the injury.

Seems like a far-fetched theory I know.

That brings up a good point. It's hard to tell really. Maybe it is like you said, that they are disguising the injury in fear that teams like said Calgary who will be after his back the whole series. Who only knows.

If it was his wrist I'd assume they'd just give him cortizone shots.

It's not that simple. It's not a miracle worker..just eases the pain for a short period of time. But, it also wouldn't keep him out for 7 weeks..unless he had a small surgery that has been fabulously covered up.

It's his back...and I have the bad feeling that he may miss the playoffs..and/or have surgery in the offseason

Regardless of what is injury is... if a team wanted to take him out they very well can... laying lumber consistantly on a healthy wrist (given an actual back injury) or a healthy back (given an actual wrist injury) will still do some major damage. Which is why I am glad we did not sit pat at the trade deadline and picked up Bert. He NEEDS to be the police out there and make sure they DO NOT target our stars, healthy or not.

Agree whole-heartedly. Laying the lumber on can injure regardless whether there is a pre-existing condition or not. Why have other player's target his back, when they could have said, say, a leg? Why draw unneccesary attention/hitting to Zetterberg's back if it's not the case? My 2 cents.
