Quincey

Hi All, I haven't been able to catch the last 2 games and I was hoping someone could give an indication as to how well Quincey has been playing. He'll likely be the 7th defensemen come playoffs, what sort of player is he, and will he be a liability?

Thanks!

Guest Agalloch

He's only played about nine minutes in each game, so it's kind of hard to judge him. From what I've seen, though, he's responsible defensively and doesn't get caught out of position. That's about all I can say. I haven't seen him make any bad plays, and it's not like we'll get to see him offensively.

Quincey (Wincey), you screw this up and I'll kill you.........She showed me the knife.

Actually, he's looked very comfortable out there. He hasn't made any real immature play thats cost the Wings thus far.

Sidenote: I would agree that he'll be the 7th Dman come playoff time.

He hasn't stuck out a whole lot, take that as you may, I consider it a good thing. When you do what you're suppose to with so few minutes each period, you tend to blend in rather than stick out due to mistakes *cough*Lilja*cough*!

I expect him to make the playoff roster as our 7th D-man, not quite the PKer Lilja is but seems to fit in comfortably in 5-on-5, decent enough size too.

I believe the only thing the talking heads had to say about him was either Hull or Chicken Parm calling him out for having no shot. I can't remember the exact quote from this past weekend's game, but whichever one made the comment kept harping on it for at least the whole period. That being said, I liked seeing him in there, particularly last night where I thought he made two real good plays back checking on the CBJ rush.

Regs,

Jeff

Who will be the first pairing? Kronwall?

Lidstrom and Chelios of course!

At any rate, I agree with whoever else said it: Quincey has not stood out, which is a good thing. Youd never know he was a rookie if you weren't a fan of the Wings. He plays with poise and confidence. While he doesnt have much of a shot, hes doing all the other things right and his defensive positioning has left nothing wanting so far.

While he doesnt have much of a shot

Pffft, Brett Hull's slander. His shot isn't something of legend, but with the sticks these guys use these days everyone can deliver a bomb downtown. It's just a matter of having the instincts on when to shoot and how to get open.

I think he actually did nail one this year, maybe it was against Calgary, but the play was juuuust offside. Had Kipper (I think) beat (almost) fair and square.

Nah. I love the band though.

Nothing spectacular, nothing terrible either from Quincey these past two games. He has seemed to make very few young brainfarts with turning the puck over and such, no penalties either I don't think, so those are good signs.
