well, this is Yzerman's baby now. Holland never got things done until late June.

"Oh well um we have 8 guys to sign and we're in talks with, um, 2 of them. oh wait, Larionov isn't here anymore. I guess we only have 7. I'm making progress."

I love Kenny as a GM but he's slow.

In the 2nd INT today, Clement asked Hull what was wrong with his crystal ball last week-

Hull: "For that much money, I'd even play for Keenan again"

What a tool, he's trying to cover himself and make it sound like the Wings had to bribe Datsyuk into staying against his will with $$$

It was always about the money, and nothing else.

Datsyuk could have got that elsewhere in the league. Probably not a 7 year term, but he would have got that money from ssome other team.

I'd say nationality doesn't have much to do with it.

and yes.. Avery is a big mouth prick as well.. i hope someone Simons him and teaches him a lesson.. but i dont know.. just seemed like some of the older guys Roenic, Hull, Chelios, Guerin Tkachuk, Hatcher were big mouth kind of guys.... just an observation...

Yeah, if only I were born in Russia, or Switzerland, or Bolivia, or any other country than the U.S. ...

I wouldn't even have known that big mouths existed.

I don't know. I'll give you Roenick and Hull. But did those other guys really talk more, on or off the ice, than guys like Avery, Maltby, Cooke, Danton, Tyson Nash, Tucker, Barnaby, Claude Lemieux, Ribeiro or Gauthier?

And Hull is Canadian born. If you're going to include him, then Donald Brashear should probably be considered Canadian, since he grew up there despite being born in the U.S.

And that's not even including the European players.

yeah, hull was dead wrong about datsyuk, im sure of a lot of us assumed datsyuk wouldnt stick around.

what is far more important is whether datsyuk will actually start producing in the playoffs. hes making nearly $7mil per season now, if he doesnt become a big time playoff performer i dont think he will play all 7 years of his contract with the red wings.

I always liked Hull and would certainly stick up for his outrageous comments. After hearing him on NBC and what he said about the Wings and Datsyuk - I lost a tremendous amount of respect for him.

I think Hull is just trying to act like he's still "in" with former players, and is some kind of great source on what's going on with them. However, I don't think this is the case- reminds me of when some of the Wings just walked right by him when he was standing outside of their locker room during "Brett Hull Night" in STL..Granted, it was guys like Markov and Hudler, people that didn't play with him, but still sort of odd that they'd walk right by him and not shake his hand.

Can anyone repost for me Hull's initial comments about Datsyuk not resigning? I missed them.

this is not a direct quote but the conversation went somthing like this:

Mike Emrick: (talking about Columbus being a better team next year) I wonder if Columbus would be interested in a star center like Datsyuk, who is a free agent this summer?

Brett Hull: Datsyuk would be crazy to go to Columbus, they aren't going to be good for several

years.

Emrick: "Why did Adam Foote go there then?"

Hull: "I don't know you would have to ask him that."

Pierre McGuire: I think Datsyuk wants to sign with Washington so he can play with his good friend Alex Ovechkin.

Hull: "Washington dosent have any money"

Emrick: Ok let me ask you this, what do you think the chances of Datsyuk re-signing with Detroit are?

Hull: "Zero...Zero Percent"

Emerick: Why do you think that?

Hull: I don't think that Datsyuk is happy with a certain member of his team.

Emerick, McGuire and Eddie Olczyk: WHO!?

*Hull kinda murmered somthing*

Olczyk: Babcock?

*Hull obviously agrees with him but dosent actually say Yes*

Again this is not a direct quote that is just how I remember it happening, but it's pretty close
