Many times during last years embarrassing round 1 loss, the refs swallowed their whistles during times that would have easily been penalties if going by the way the regular season was called.

IMO I think the regular season was called similar to last year, I have no stats to back this up though.

It would not be exciting to keep the level from the regular season and that's fine. Frankly I think the game is better off called playoff style, especially now with the "new" rules. It eliminates the most ridiculous calls from the regular season and allows the players to battle for the puck and so forth.

Bottom line is, you win through some adversity, and that adversity may be the referees missing a few calls or not calling the game 100% perfect, or not even 90% perfect. Using the referees as a scapegoat, in the grand scheme of things, is no excuse for losing.

But the inconsistency in refereeing is a bit of a joke, at times they make one bad call then a couple of minutes later a similar thing happens and nothing gets called. I know everybody makes mistakes but it's so frustrating.

Hopefully they swallow the whistles and stop calling those touch penalties. Last time I checked this isnt basketball where a tap on the wrist is a foul. Besides not like the Wings PP was a weapon this year and the less time Sammy is on the point the better

Inconsistent officiating has been going on since the 40's. Last year Kevin Allen wrote an article where he took several quotes from articles over the past 60 years showing how referees have always been under the gun.

I'd much rather have inconsistant refereering that allowed skilled players to use their skill than what was happening before.

People here and elsewhere constantly cry and whine over officiating but most of the time it's because their team lost.

Suck it up.

And nothing is worse than the hockey that was played from approx 96-04. Nothing. 1-0 leads in the 2nd held up. And if you were behind in the 3rd you were never, ever coming back because refs would swallow their whistles allowing the team with the lead to get away with murder and prevent any sort of comeback.

Hockey's much better this year and last years playoffs were some of the most exciting I've seen since the 80's.

Stop crying and enjoy the games. In the end, if all the players would finally learn to keep both hands on their stick and their stick on the ice, there wouldn't be any issues.

I know people get upset by there team getting beat, who wouldn't? but there is just too many major errors by the referee's in all sport's for my liking. How would you feel if the wings got to game 7 in the SCF's and they got scewed by a bad call? I'd certainly be upset.
