Play-off Superstitions

I typically do, but they haven't worked lately, so a few are going. Notice the new avatar, last year I though changing an avatar after a long and glorious season would be bad luck.

Others that are staying:

- play-off beard

- Wings apparel on every game day

- changing seating positions depending on score (if they score while I'm on the couch, I stay on the couch, if they lose lead, I move)

Anyone else as goofy as I am?

I'll have to start some definate playoff traditions this year so i'm open to suggestions!, I usually grow a beard all year long just because i'm too lazy to shave unless I have some special occasion, but i'm going to shave clean before the frist game and grow a true playoff beard this year

I don't have a Red Wings jersey otherwise I would wear it every game day

I too change seating positions depending on the Red Wings preformance, if its a really big game I usually sit on the floor infront of my couch, thats where I was when we smoked Nashville three times and when we beat Anihiem!

i paint my toes red, have my Lebda hockey stick and jersey by me during games and i wear my wings bracelet.

I made a small Wings play-off altar in my room seriously, I did. I have the '02 play-off bobbleheads set up with a Stevie Y action figure while he's raising the cup. I also have a mini-stanley cup on the "altar" with an old-school Wings puck and the SI Steve Yzerman Issue infront. There is also a mini Wings jersey and a mini Stevie Jersey. I also have a picture of the `97 team and a postcard of Wings jereseys through out the ages. LoL. I should use it to pray to the hockey Gods.

I also have a question.

Should I wear my Wings Jersey:

a)On game Day.

b)The Day after a win

Wings apparel on every game day definitely, in fact, I've pretty much worn the same jersey for every Wings playoff game since 1998. I bought it right after the Wings won it all in 1997. It's getting pretty ratty though so I'm praying for a reason to replace it.

The seating thing is pretty much right on too. I also clench my hands a certain way when the game is close. There are others but I can't divulge them because it could have bad inplications for the playoffs.

i've got one of those too, no bobble heads but I have all the Arbys Glasses, a 2002 Playoff champions plaque and a 2006 "Bring it" fan towel with my Yzerman Collecters edition SI... I'll post pics later today!

I have a number of playoff superstitions, although none of them have seemed to help the past couple of seasons. One, I go with the traditional no-shaving rule, which is dreadful, but lately hasn't amounted to much agony due to the early exits. Two, I always sit in the same spot at my house to watch the games on TV. Third, I wear the same clothes regardless of previous outcomes during the game, and lastly, I have a cologne called "Wings" which I spray exactly three times before the start of each game. I started doing this in 2002 and it worked, so now it has become a part of the playoff tradition.

it changes every year. In 97 & 98 it was the same spot on the floor infront of the tv and my dad was on the couch.

In 02 it was the same chair while my dad on the couch with my friend next to him. We started that during game 6 of the west finals. and the only time the three of us weren't sittingin those spots, game 1 of the finals, they lost. Its so stupid but whatever works....

I do that one too. I also made a brand new Sig this morning. I won't use last years playoff sig or any small part of it.

For me it depends on what happens. Ill try goin gout ot the same bar and eat the same stuff if they win a game, or i wear the same jersey or shirt. I had one in 02 when my aunt would call me 5 minutes before the puck drop, wed say hey and say a quick thing about the last game and the normal "go Wings" stuff. I usually stick with one thing till they loose 2 in a row. Im hoping to go to Game 2 with my buddy since we found good seats.

No traditions here. I'm not the superstitious type. Just a boring schmuck.

Although I'm probably going to shave my head after a work convention this week right if that counts for anything, since it's around the start of the playoffs. I almost always have short hair but I've only done the bald look completely once. I know it's the opposite of growing facial hair, but what the hell...

Not a superstition, but I have done some Red Wing related stuff at playoff time. I work easily one of the most popular restaurants in the city, in BC. I started bartendin there in 02' and have worked there since. For that year, first round against the Nuck's I came in 2 hours early for shift, and decorated the bar crazy in Red Wings memorabilia. I had posters, stick, pucks, a Hockeytown banner, mcfarline action figures, even changed the salt and pepper shakers to my Red Wings ones. I dressed in Red, with a jersey, hat, pants and painted my face.

My managers weren't too impressed, but they couldn't deny the crowd that came in. They were all Nuck's fans who just wanted to grill me. And for Game 1 and 2, they did. But, well, the rest is history.
