rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Skip the games, just have shootouts during the regular season. Use that to decide who is playoff worthy. Or maybe allow Don Cherry, Brett Hull, and Barry Melrose to decide. Or maybe just go by mean weigh and height. The heaviest, tallest teams make it in. lfd250 1 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 I say lilypads.. go with 5 Dmen, put sammy back there when needed and keep the rookies together and rotate some other guys through. We don't have to sit a forward.

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 I say lilypads.. go with 5 Dmen, put sammy back there when needed and keep the rookies together and rotate some other guys through. We don't have to sit a forward. Lilja has played well. Sammy has not. Hard to argue sitting a defenseman who has played well in favor of a forward who has not so that another forward can dress. Especially when teams often dress SEVEN defensemen in the playoffs.
arin 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Sammy should sit.... I frickin' hate him. WHY is he on the point? He can't hold a puck in and can barely get the puck on net from there. WHY does Babcock always put our worst forwards on point? What's wrong with even Lebda? He had that awesome one-timed slapper a few games back... He has the speed to get the puck back into the zone if it is cleared. Sammy just turns it over in the neutral or plays with himself in our zone for 50 seconds. Even Cheli would be better on the point..
Stevie Y Forever 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 i would rather have hudler sit, i like him a lot and hes a great young player but three times yesterday i noticed him carrying the puck over the blue and just throw it to the boards when a D stood up on him, all three times resulting in easy turnovers. Granted besides those three occasions he played well and had a nice heads up play on his assist on lidstroms goal, but i think those little things could be the difference, just a thought. Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 My choice would be Sammy. Babs will be Hudler. Flip had a great game, Cleary and Malts are too important on the PK and forecheck. Sammy has experience over Hulder. Plus, the only good thing I can say about Sammy is that he plays with an edge and that is what we need against the Flames, but if we see our lines start getting shut down, expect Hudler back quick. Stevie Y Forever 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 (edited) What if.. and believe me this is hypathetical but just as a thought, what if bert sat out game 2? we keep saying who will sit out when he comes back, well we just one 4-1 and dominated literally from start to finish. as scotty bowman used to say, "if it aint broke, dont fix it." I know wont happen, and i dont want it to, but just a little thought Edited April 13, 2007 by Stevie Y Forever
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Considering our second line was the lousiest at even strength play, there's something to fix and maybe Bert's the answer.
Superman54 91 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Hudler is the smartest choice..As much as I like the fellow we need all the other guys more.

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Bertuzzi Calder - Lang - Holmstrom Cleary - Draper - Maltby Franzen - Filpulla - Hudler I think Bertuzzi can bring some muscle to the zetterberg dats line, just my opinion and sammy should sit he isnt produicng We should put Bertuzzi with Datsyuk and Zetterberg - then I would like to see how (IF) Iginla is going to point Zetterberg again!!! He always fans on shots and passes, and he always gets hurt, the guy a has no heart for the game, and i know im gonna get murdered for syaing this, but he SUCKS!!!! Viperar 16 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 simple fact is Iggy and other players made v-lines for Z and Dats when the chippyness broke out, and we need to put someone who wil protect those 2 boys on that line, and that means Bert. I know its horrible taking homer off the top line, but its something i deem necessary for the health of our scoring boys
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 This should be a non-issue. Even though Hudler has been playing decent, he is the obvious choice to be scratched. As much as most of you hate Sameulsson, you have to realize he has basically been here longer and will play. Hudler is a rookie, and since Babcock likes Filppula better (I think anyways), Hudler will be the odd man out in this situation. I can't believe people propose sitting Maltby all the time. Do you honestly think Babcock will sit Maltby, who is one of Babcocks favorite players, for Hudler, who Babcock is seemingly fond of criticizing? It'll never happen. Hudler will be the one sat.
