I would hope you would root for canada in the olympics as well, its nations competeing against nations. All i said was that canadians are more outward about supporting a team because they are canadian than americans are about supporting an american team. And no offense but your response does give off a hint of inferiority complex

Dammit. I'm trying to avoid it. I guess it comes naturally in the system when living next to the states your entire life. I really dont mean to. I think I am pretty balanced. I think by me saying I would go to bat for americans if canucks talk smack is pretty bold.

I cant say what it is like living in th states or how fans treat their teams. Yes a ton of Canadian cheer for teams in Canada, and many simply because they are Canadian. We love the game, we are proud that we are good at it, and I suppose some ppl just want to see a cup here. I personally dont see the difference. If any team in the states wins the cup, 1/4 to 1/2 the players are usually canadian. So I apologized for my first retalition, and I will agree that I understand where you are coming from, but I just think it shouldn't be said.

BTW - isnt it like 5:30 am on the east coast?

Ooh, haha, I ask that then I scroll down to see ... official member of LGW late night crew. Yeah, I wish it was 100 deg. or, what is that 35ish cel.

But aside from the Canadian bias on TSN (i'm not sure if you can ever see it where you are) it is nice to have Roenick on there. I generally think the guy is some what of a tool, but he has been great this past week. Gives a very different opinion on a lot of stuff. And Yes, an American opinion. And it is kinda nice, just simply a change of pace from what I am used to seeing. I think it is the best way to do things. Have guys on both side of the fence. Basically just like you and I. If everyone gave the exact same response everytime, it would get boring rather quickly.

Look at it this way. If the NFL was taken over by a Canadian market, and only six teams remained in the United States, dont you think American broadcasts would be overly bias in favour of teams south of the border? The point is, hockey is a way of life in Canada and many Canadians want the cup here. Like it or not, thats how its going to be. I would be willing to bet that if, say the Rangers played Calgary for the cup, you would see a Rangers bias from networks like NBC, and they would run with the whole Canada vs. US theme.

Damn you guys get pissed off easy. Yes, TSN is bias but dont turn this into a "whiny ass Canadian" thing. Americans networks would be bias too, but they dont give a s*** about hockey. The American broadcasters are equally bias as the Canadian ones... If you dont like it, dont go to the tsn site... the world doesnt revolve around Detroit Michigan..

Thats not really what we are even talking about. We're talking about censorship on posts that they disagree with. It has nothing to do with Detroit Michigan. Its the fact that when there are posts about the Wings when they are playing an American team you can litterally say ANYTHING and it gets posted. But say one little thing in the direction of a Canadian team that we're playing and your post never sees the ******* light of day. Its rediculous. Bottom line.

Especially when I tried being classy and objective about my comments. And yet they STILL wouldnt post my message. You really ought to read the start of the thread so you actually know what this whole thing is about. See I go to TSN because I respect their hockey knowledge and their news is always accurate. However respect has been fading because of their post censorships. I mean its not like im cussing or going nuts or being ignorant. All I know is, Ive said 10 times worse things when we are playing American teams. And it ALWAYS gets posted. But I purposely tone it down because I already know of the overwhelming bias. All I said was Go Red Wings, Flames did act a little classless near the end. And Wings in 5. And they wouldnt post it. ******* bulls***. If your Canadian or not, you would have to understand how much bulls*** that is. Especially after making a conscious effort to be calm and objective. Then still get shot down.

Which American broadcasters? heh

I dont see that being an issue considering most of the broadcasters covering the NHL in America are in fact, Canadian. If you want to compare it the other way around in something relevant you would have to compare it to something like the Bluejays on espn. We all know they dont give 2 s***s about hockey but in a sport they readily cover, they cover most the teams who play the best. Redwings get s*** on every last call comments by 80% of their fans and their mods wont even allow a well thought out rebuttal from any fan who has a hint of being a fan opposing the Canadian team.

And i like to go to their site because fact of the matter is, Canadians do know and cover their sport well. It'd just be nice to have a universal opinion be heard over their once in awhile. Noone said the world should revolve around Detroit.

I agree that a universal opinion should be heard, but in most cases its not. A lot of the broadcasters that I hear, from Southern teams such as Nashville are very bias. As far as the bluejays on ESPN, what is the need for bias? the blue have sucked for 10 years and are the only Canadian team.. If there were only 6 US Franchies in the MLB and all the rest Canadian, dont you think American networks would favour the teams from the US?? i think so.

Its not even about networks "favoring" a certain team from a certain area. Its simply about censoring certain posts that they disagree with. Especially when they are being written respectfully and objectively. American or Canadian, ive never heard of website censoring certain posts because they disagree. Yet I could go on their while we're playing an American team and be the most ignorant troll ever and they post everything. Bulls***!

Good to hear that not all Canadians are bias towards all Canadian teams. Hell, I was rooting for the Leafs to make the playoffs, and Im American.

I wouldn't agree that it has to do with being an 'inferiority complex' as such, since in many ways the opposite true (esp. morally); I think they often see hockey as "their" game, so-called, and the Leafz are a perennial loser, so they are angry. In all Cdn NHL cities the hockey team is by far the main sports team, which is another reason why they are tight asses about winning.

As a Cdn fan of a US team it's embarrassing sometimes... Oh well...

I would be willing to bet that if, say the Rangers played Calgary for the cup, you would see a Rangers bias from networks like NBC, and they would run with the whole Canada vs. US theme.

The NHL hasn't been majority Canadian since the 1925-26 season, when there were four Canadian teams (Toronto St.Pats, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens, and Montreal Maroons) and three American teams (Boston Bruins, New York Americans, Pittsburgh Pirates). The next season the NHL added three teams by expansion; the Detroit Cougars, New York Rangers, and Chicago Blackhawks.

[/font]

It's not as if suddenly a 30 team league that was entirely Canadian pulled up and moved most of their teams to the US.

Counting Ottawa as one franchise as the current Senators since they want to share history, the NHL has seen a mere eleven Canadian teams: Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton, Vancouver, Calgary, and Ottawa currently, as well as the Winnipeg Jets, Quebec Nordiques, Quebec Bulldogs/Hamilton Tigers, Montreal Maroons, and Montreal Wanderers.

The NHL had seen seven American teams by the 1930s. The number swelled to 13 in 1967 when the NHL added three teams in markets that previously had NHL hockey (Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, St. Louis) as well as three brand new markets (Los Angeles, Oakland, Minnesota).

Hockey has been played in the US for just as long as it has been played in Canada. The NHL has been majority American teams for most of its history. Realistically, there is no good justification for calling the NHL a Canadian league that was taken over by teams moving, as the NHL had as many or more more American teams every year since 71-72 than Canadian teams EVER.

Im gonna "try" to post something again. Basically im gonna talk about how we dominated them again. I will be completely shocked if it actually gets posted. Even though Im gonna be respectfull about it. TSN's staff is probably already crying, so Im sure Im gonna get shot down again. We'll see I guess.

I cant access the Flames forum to see what they are saying ... you have to register and I dont really want to go through the effort. But on TSN's the flames fans seem to be pretty chocked at the perfomance of their team. Interesting, because generally in situations like this, a lot of fans (not saying just calgary) start pointing fingers and blaming everything and anything.

OMG Big ******* shock. They shot my post down, once again. Despite being totally objecive and just giving props where props are due, they once again wouldnt post my message. Here is my exact post. You tell me if its "out of line" or not.

Alright! Red Wings dominated the flames again. I cant wait till tuesday to see how each team reacts. But we definitely owned them on our home ice. Wings in 5 baby! Go Red Wings!

Its seriously getting ******* pathetic that you litterally cant say anything against one of their precious Canadian teams without getting your posts rejected. Even though everything I said was either true, or my opinion. If it wasnt for the fact that they usually get big hockey news first, I would probably never go there again. Sore losing babies.
