i_like_cheese_2001 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Centre Tomas Kopecky has been medically cleared to play. He has been out since December 14 with a broken clavicle. Kopecky was a healthy scratch in Game 1 on Thursday. - TSN There isn't an actual story about it, just this blurb on their "Ice Chips" blog.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Could we dress 13 forwards ? I'd love to see a line of Frazen-Filpula-Kopecky. I remeber the game I went to when Kopecky started running Phaneuf. That was the highlight of that game , since we lost

Rule 15a, under Players In Uniform "At the beginning of each game, the Manager or Coach of each Team shall list the players and goalkeepers who shall be eligible to play in the game. Not more than eighteen players, exclusive of goalkeepers, shall be permitted." Edited April 13, 2007 by Never Forget Mac #

BigTex 1 Report post Posted April 14, 2007 He should go down to GR for a series and maybe come back up in the second round IF he's got his game. He can't be sharp after being out this long, people. time to be realistic.

You are correct. There is no 23 player limit in the post season. Edited April 14, 2007 by Airborn
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted April 14, 2007 maybe sammy, but not lang. he comes to play in the playoffs. He hasn't yet. Well, ok, it's only be one game. But knowing Langs habits, he'll be more busy eating cheeseburgers and donuts in the back out of focus.
slapshot26 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2007 I wouldn't sit anyone...for a rookie that hasn't skated in months and has never played a playoff game...No Question, Not worth it at all I'm not denying that Kopecky isn't a great player. It would just be a really dumb move

If Kopecky hadnt gone down he would have a spot in the lineup, but since he hasnt played in some time, he wont play unless a few guys go down. He can't be sharp after being out this long, people. time to be realistic. I don't even know if you can do that can you? I would love to get him some game time... We may end up needing him at some point... If Maltby wasn't so effective on the kill, I would almost put Kopecky in for him. Totally crazy, but I would love to see the kid get a shot. He has more speed and has tendency to try to hit once in a while.

If Kopecky were 100% and in game shape, I would sit Sammy and Maltby, and use the following lineup: Datsyuk/Zetterberg/Holmstrom Calder/Lang/Bertuzzi Hudler/Filppula/Franzen Cleary/Draper/Kopecky
Henkka 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2007 Are you crazy? Maltby has been good shutting up the Flames top line. And also on the PK.

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted April 14, 2007 Are you crazy? Maltby has been good shutting up the Flames top line. And also on the PK. I thought Kopecky was significantly more effective than Maltby during the regular season. That, and Maltby's line played primarily against the Flames' SECOND line of Huselius/Langkow/Lombardi. Zetterberg's line matched up against Iginla's line most of the night.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Are you crazy? Maltby has been good shutting up the Flames top line. And also on the PK. You must understand that pretty much everyone here hates Maltby. I am probably one of the few people who still support him, yet everyone else thinks he sucks. He goes out and does what he has to do. So what if he doesn't score goals or fight people? That's not his job.

That's not his job. I don't hate Maltby, nor do I expect him to lead the team in scoring or pummel the opponent into submission. [/font] What I expect from Maltby is a grinding defensive game and strong PK, and he has been wildly inconsistent at delivering that the past two seasons. Kopecky is more skilled, bigger, stronger and FAR more physical than Maltby. Kopecky's defensive/PK disadvantage compared to Maltby is irrelevant because Maltby is now about the 5th or 6th best PK forward we have, a role Kopecky is perfectly capable of filling right now and certainly in the future. Maltby might be a 3rd liner on some other teams, but the fact remains if the Wings were 100% healthy he would be my pick to be up in the press box along with Sammy. That's not his job. I don't hate Maltby, I think...next to Chelios he makes me laugh more then any other Wing at the things he does in scrums in such, Samuelsson is right up there on that list too! I remember one time, Samuelsson had the puck and was coming into the offensive zone, the play happened to be offsides so he just started gilding in tword the goalie, he stoped short, right infront of the goalie covering him with ice, the goalie took a slash at his leg and Samuelsson took his stick in two hands and swung it tword the goalie (as to make him flinch) and the goalie flinched and fell right on his ass! I laughed for about ten mins Edited April 15, 2007 by Elshupacabra
