Armstrong hit on Eaves

Patrick Eaves from the Sens was just taken out on a stretcher. He was coming around the net and Colby Armstrong lined him up perfectly and hit Eaves right in the jaw with thre sohulder (clean hit). Eaves didn't even see it coming and he practicaly got KO'd and fell down really awkwardly. He was then taken out on a stretcher as McAmmond faught Talbot after they got into a little scrum after the hit (even though they are non-fighters the fight had loads of hard punches and Talbot hit McAmmond with like 10 hard punches and then McAmmond hit Talbot with like 5 hard punches knocking Talbot flat on his a$$.) Crazy series though! I wouldn't be surprised if Neil and Armstrong drop the gloves.

EDIT: They just diagnosed Eaves with a concusion.

According to Grapes (yeah, what a source  ) Colby Armstrong has a history of hitting guys when their coming around the net. The intersting thing is that the Letowski hit was an open ice hit. This is the first time Armstrong hit someone coming from behind the net and actually hurt them. He made the same type of hit on Saku Koivu, but Koivu did not get hurt. Again though, the hit was clean. There was really nothing Armstrong could do.

Yeah, rough times for Eaves. Just dangerous rounding the net. Another thing that didnt work in his favour was that he got pushed from behind by the one player, speeding him up and putting him out of control as armstrong came to hit him from the other direction. I didnt count the strides, but could have been charging, colby came a long way. Regardless, hopefully Eaves gets back soon.

Armstrong was running like crazy yesterday and looking to bump Sens players. from what I've seen the hit on Eaves wasn't overly dirty, but I'd have to view it in detail to say more.

as for the Armstrong himself... he was put there to compensate for the crap Neil and other Sens goons started in 1st. and he was making it tough all 2nd long (didn't watch 3rd though, so I can't say).

too bad Malkin was brutal yesterday, because he virtually cost Pens a goal and from then on it went downward(sp) :(

Amazing hit by a small guy like armstrong...on the outside he looks harmless.

Armstrong's a pretty big kid. He goes 6-2 and i'm guessing right around 200lbs. Plus, he's a great skater and he generates alot of momentum when he checks people. I remember seeing him come in his rookie year and thinking, damn this kid likes to mix it up. He was hitting everything and people were going after him almost regularly.

He's a great young hitter.
