wingnut129 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2007 TSN currently has a poll asking if fans think Calgary should make a coaching change in order to try and change things up and turn things around in the series. If that were to happen I think it'd be crazy and I'm not too sure it'd help anything (not enough time to undo what's been done). Any thoughts about this hypothical question? How do you think it would turn out IF it happened?

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 16, 2007 Well, the replacement in question is likely Darryl Sutter, and he's proven himself pretty good in the past. If Bob McKenzie's saying it should happen, there might be a chance. I kinda doubt it, though.

Feldmarschall 9 Report post Posted April 16, 2007 If they lose the next game, all bets are off. It'd be time to try anything at all for a momentum change.
Vansmack-CP 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2007 The fans on CP are calling for playfairs head.. Well, some of them I guess. I think it would be a very very bold moved, and extremely short sighted for this team. If you take a step back and look at the situation, playfair is a rookie headcoach, that led the flames to the best home record in the league. Granted the team has one of the worst road records, I still believe that this is somthing that can be greatly improved upon next season. If Sutter were to fire playfair, I think it would be tough for him to find someone to replace him for next season. I think the expectations for the flames are way to high as of late. We made the playoffs in '03 and went to the cup final, after 7 years of missing playoffs before. Since that run, everyone thinks we should be a cup contender every year now, it's really quite funny. My prediction is that playfair remains the coach of this team until christmas, at the very earliest, and if the team is not improving by that time, there is a possiblilty that he is let go. BowmansBrain 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2007 I wish peolpe wouldn't count out Calgary just yet. It would be a huge mistake for the Wings to start underestimating the Flames. They only lost 2 games. There is no way they are making a coaching change. The Wings still must go to Alberta and win either game 3 or 4 before we can start thinking about putting this one to bed. I think the Wings know better than anyone not to underestimate. It's haunted them in the past and they know better than to do it again.

akustyk 84 Report post Posted April 16, 2007 if Sutter is in we drag this series to at least 6 games. that would be a bold move and a big shakeup, but I bet there would be an instant effect and the Flames would start rolling like crazy. and frankly, Sutter has brains and could very well tie this series and give his team a good chance to advance. and he really has nothing to lose. Playfair's been clueless in JLA this series and his Flames played without any teamwork. I can see them better in Saddledome(sp?), but Babs will once again outcoach Fairplay and if Wings come out flying, I can't see Flames winning this game. I don't want Sutter there. this instantly decreases our chance to finish this series relatively quick and even adds a non-insignificant risk of losing it. say what you want, but Sutter is very smart and has good understanding of playoff game
