I wonder if anyone else caught this. During the play-by-play of the wings-sharks game 1, the anaylist said "datsyuk passes to ANDREAS ZETTERBERG and its stopped by Nabakov"

:rotflmao:

When did Zetterberg change his name?? :yowza:

I cant remember exactly which game it was last series, but I remember one of the announcers saying "Zetterman" at one point.

Good stuff

I laughed and thought to myself "geez, i know you guys don't care about hockey but could at least get the names right"

Atleast they got the lastname correct.

In the first round against Nashville, one of the brilliant Versus announces said "JP Dupont"

:D

Cool sig...

this is the same organization which published an article with references to Dominik Hassock.

You wanna hear some butchering of names... Attend a game at the Joe. Its sooooo funny how Bud can't spit out the players names... Its a fun little game I play trying to figure out the person he is saying without looking at the # of the player. Sometimes I am just so stumped I have to look at the scoreboard to see got the penalty.

Check ESPN.com, on the NHL page there is a story about each team's game breakers. Ours is Z, and they say the following:

"Zetterberg led the Red Wings with six points in their six-game first-round series win against Calgary."

Wow, not only did Zetterberg only have 3 points in the series, but Lidstrom was the team leader with 8. A blatenly incorrect fact from ESPN, what a disgrace. They are terrible.

They must've found Z's info from the EDM series last year. He did lead the Wings with 6 points in 6 games in that one, if I remember correctly.

I really hate how CBC and Verse screw up the names soo bad. How do you call Hank Zetterman? He doesnt even have a m or n in his last name!

I seriously HATE ESPN! How do you cover the NFL Draft more than the NHL! Not to mention they know squat about hockey! I know that they are not big fan of hockey but seriously there is a freaking Telapromter right in front of your freaking face! COME ON! ANDY ZETTERBURGE!:angry:

It's no surprise to me, this happens all the time. I notice that about every other hockey highlight ESPN has they mess up a name. Whether it be a wicked mispronunciation or an incorrect first name, it's just demoralizing to an avid hockey fan. It shows how little research ESPN puts into it's presentation of hockey. Bucci and Barry are the only ones over there who give a damn about hockey. And that's too bad.

Just as a quick example, I was watching some highlights of the NYI preplayoff run a few weeks ago. The ESPN anchor repeatidly called Victor Kozlov Slava Kozlov. This was near the trading deadline, so at first I thought he was dealt. Then in the VERY NEXT highlight, they showed Slava Kozlov scoring a goal. The same anchor talked about how the goal Slava scored was so big for the Thrashers. I just wanted to reach through the TV and choke him.
