Guest GodofHockeyStevieY19 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 There is so many reasons I hate day games. And I know its usually only on weekends, but thats just my point. I like to sleep in bigtime on weekends. So i have no prep time for these games. I usually like to get a good meal in me, let it settle for a few, then get right to drinking. There is nothing like playoff hockey and beer. And these day games totally screw my routine up. And half the time im still all tired and groggy by the time the game starts so I find myself not getting into it as much as I would. I know its something thats not gonna change. But I had to vent a little, because today I woke up at like 1 and the Rangers/Sabres was already on. Now its like the only thing I can do is prepare for the Ducks/Canucks at 8. Me and Mr. 12er will be glued to the tube tonight for some sweet sweet playoff hockey. But come on NHL please make the games a little later, 5pm sounds about right. Still earlier than usual, but still late enough to get into game mode.

glasgowcelticwing 18 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 I love day game's. It mean's that I don't have to sit up at 3am in the morning. Midweek game's are absolutely brutal when you have to start work at 6am.

Only on the weekend. During the week I go to school and work so Im usually up quite early each day. But when the weekend hits im usually in party-mode, So for the most part Im not in bed till like 4-5am. So by the time I fall asleep, then wake up, its like almost always afternoon. And I for one have a hard time drinking at night, then waking up to a beer, lol. I have friends that pull it off, but its just not my thing. I usually like a good 5 hours or so to get ready to start poundin em. 3 o'clock games I can sometimes handle. But 12 or 12:30 games, or 1 o'clock games, just not into it. Offsides 21 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 I just hate day games. I feel like the mood is better at night. I also don't like going to matinee movies. For the rest of the day I'm left to figure out what I'll do now!?!
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 Makes no difference to me. I remember the days of sleeping until late morning/early afternoon, but it hasn't been that way for many years now. Probably stopped when I finished university, so around 22. Nowadays, I am awake by around 7-8am regardless of the day of the week. Even when I was in sleep-in-mode, it didn't matter, if there was a game on early, I made sure I was up for it. I left drinking for parties though, not for watching hockey games. I've also gotten up at 5 or 6am quite a few times to watch World Juniors when the games were in Europe somewhere.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 I wake up just about every day between 4:30am - 5:00am for work and usually no later than 8am on weekends so I don't want to hear no whining about losing sleep to day games. Besides, playoff games during the afternoons have been around for a good while now, don't really see what the big fuss is about.

MarkovCocktail 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 I don't mind them all too much because it gives me one less thing to worry about all day. When a game is at night(especially on the west coast) I have to worry all day or i'm just antsy. A day game victory is always nice since it sets a nice tempo for the remaining day where the win just soaks in.
HomeNugget 2 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 i like the day game. i hate being antsy all day. when we're on the west coast its like i'm always just trying to kill time before the game starts at 9.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 I like day games a lot! Sometimes big games, it's to hard on the nerves waiting until 7:00 for the puck to drop. It's good to know the result before 5:30, and if it goes to OT it's not a big deal. Another reason why I like day games, it allows you to hang out with your friends at night. I think it's win win when you can watch a game in the afternoon, then hang out at night.

19 C 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 I hate day games when the Wings lose because the rest of your day is SHOT. Bad mood lasts all day. If it's a night game you can go to bed afterwards and it's not so bad. ALTHOUGH.... winning a day game is AWESOME because you have all night to go out and party it up. The great mood lasts all day and nothing can bring me down. Catch 22 I suppose At least they are AFTERNOON games though.. I can't imagine living on the west coast and having MORNING games. Weird! Vladiator 116 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 I really don't like day games either. It's probably because the majority of the games are at night so the day games kind of kick me out of my routine. Yeah it sucked trying to catch a Wings game when I lived in Orange County for a year. Had to leave early from work to catch the 7:30 Eastern starters (although I could always get tickets to see them when they visited the Pond).
Barrie 900 Report post Posted May 1, 2007 What I hate is when games start at 10:00pm EST. West coast games, when it involves teams from the EST zone, should start at 6:00 PCT.
