SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted May 6, 2007 Tying not to take away from Nabakov's game in the overall sense, he's a starting goalie in the NHL for a reason, so I'm not going to even come close to saying he's a bad goalie and such, and I'm not trying to imply that the Sharks aren't a bad team by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm not trying to overhype the Wings and Hasek with this insight, so here goes... We've seen Hasek make a few brainfarts this series, namely the game 2 goof to Thornton for a 2-0 and the softie to Goc yesterday in game 5. That being said though, in both games, both the Red Wings and Hasek both came up BIG after those errors. If it was Legace still in net like last year in the Edmonton series, it might have unraveled. As long as the Sharks didn't get a good break or a bounce in their direction though or beat Hasek with a legit/clean goal, he's not going to have many more brainfarts to cost the Wings a game. He isn't winning any games by himself by any stretch of the imagination, but he isn't costing the Wings any games either. Both him and the Wings are showing their experience and calm patience when things might not immediately go correct from the get-go. We've yet to see that from the Sharks. Again, not taking away anything from Nabakov or the Sharks team, they are still capable of taking this and are a damn good team despite being on the ropes. They haven't proven (yet) to overcome a huge error or two by etiher Nabakov or the team, that might not necessarily cost them a game completely but has a huge impact in a game. Maybe being one of the younger teams in the league plays a part in this, but they have enough seasoned veterans in Thornton, Grier, Brown, Rivet, etc. that knows what it takes to overcome these errors. For the Wings case, hopefully their good fortunes continue and the Sharks cannot quite still overcome any big mistakes. That being said though, this series is far from done despite being in the Wings favor, and expect Nabakov to try to have a huge game tomorrow night.
