zaxx 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 Don Cherry pays props to Babcock. He calls him out for being the reason the Wings have been strong even when they fall behind 2 - 0. He is correct on this one, Babcock has been great for the Wings and he has done a lot of things correct. Even if we were to lose this series we at least can know that the team rallied behind Mike and did the best they could. View Coaches Corner Here

Winged Scooter 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 Don't forget, Babs also now officially has a winning playoff record (9-8) let's hope he gets his 10th tonight!

webwing91 4 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 Yeah, got to say that he has done a amazing job. The one thing that irks me is that he didn't put Yzerman in on the last faceoff last year.
FinWing 26 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 Babs has really turned this "small and soft" team into a really determined and fearless bunch, haven't seen that from the Red Wings in a long time. They fight the adversity and always seem to pull through, hopefully that continues!
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 (edited) Anyone notice the big smile on Babcock at the end of Game 5? I have never seen him smile during a game, not even for the OT winner in Game 4. I think Babcock is the perfect coach for this team - he is relentless and is never satisfied until the Red Wings get that 16th win. He has turned a soft, easily pushed-around hockey team into one that keeps fighting and never backs down from anyone. The one thing Babcock always said he wanted to do was make the Red Wings "harder to play against." Ask Calgary or San Jose if he accomplished this. The only times I see Babcock smile are right after the refs call a BS penalty against the Wings. I love it.

aarond 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 Babcock has kept the Wings on an even keel I wish he would post on this forum a little bit so we could keep some of these fans on some semblance of an even-keel.

rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 Don't forget... http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...8/1053/SPORTS05 Great article. A little cocky with all the "this series is over" editorial opinions and what not, but still great.
aarond 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 Case in point: anybody who thinks this series is over isn't keeping an even keel.
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 (edited) Whoa - that was a little over the top on saying the series is over, but I understand somewhat why you could think that. I think the Red Wings have gotten into the Sharks' heads and it will be interesting to see how a young, leadership-deprived team responds while facing elimination. This series is far from over, but I like the Red Wings chances. Edited May 7, 2007 by GoWings1905
aarond 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 (edited) I was following the gameday thread during game 4, and when the Sharks took the lead in that game, there were no less than 5 Wings fans declaring "series over, thanks for showing up, Wings." If the Wings can swing that game back in their favor, the Sharks can certainly swing this series back in their favor. You'd think it was the first time witnessing a Stanley Cup playoff season for some of these people. Edited May 7, 2007 by aarond
