Swimming with the Sharks 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Thanks, Sharks fans. I've known for the past 14 years how classy you guys are since most all my friends are Sharks fans. And you know I would've rooted for the Tiburones if they'd've beaten us, because we can all agree on one thing: Pronger + = :puke:
Offsides 21 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Sharks fans have been real nice to me on the Sharks board...definitely didn't mind you guys hangin' out...thanks!
Feldmarschall 9 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 If there are any revenge matches in future playoffs, they will definitely be good.
Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Sharks fans are generally great folks -- I've found this both here at LGW and in the Bay Area. Great to have you along for the ride!
Grypho 195 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Thanks, Sharks fans. I've known for the past 14 years how classy you guys are since most all my friends are Sharks fans. And you know I would've rooted for the Tiburones if they'd've beaten us, because we can all agree on one thing: Pronger + = :puke: He's about the only thing I have against the Ducks. I like their fans, I like their team - nothing but respect for them, actually. But I personally dislike Pronger. I admire and respect his skills and talent, don't get me wrong, but he's always been a crybaby to me, a bad sport for the most part, and I must confess that I do enjoy seeing his cage get rattled. All personal, no business. On the other hand, I DO NOT feel that was about Teemu Selanne. I like him very much.
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 I said before the playoffs began - the Cup MUST go to the West. No more southern teams. I actually kind of like the Sabres - but really the West is the better conference. Good luck to SJ next year - we've all been there - well too many times for us - still a great team - just need to get over the hump....
donfishmaster 62 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Great series, and I'm glad I found this forum. I cna't imagine the bedlam and hatred going down in the other choices of forums. I shake all of your hands the way the players do on the ice, since what is a hockey fan if he can't follow the same protocol? THe team with the bigger heart and better talent won. Period. NOW!!!!! SERIOUS BUSINESS!!!!!! You are now my team for the playoffs. You MUST beat the Ducks. DO not let this be a Duck/Ottawa bore fest. And don't let those Ducks win for pete's sake. Do it. Take care of business. We're leaving the house over here, going to tthe bar, as Wings fans and Sharks fans to share a toast. Big game guys, congratulations, and well done. DONT STOP NOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a lot, seriously. That was one of the most entertaining, clean series I've watched as a dyed-in-the-Red Wings fan. You guys were bigger and fresher out of the gate, we were (IMO) better puck handlers and a bit faster. I'm glad the Wings beat you, but the teams were so well matched it was great viewing. Plus, you could have very easily won the series. But God, I hate that Prick-Pronger!!!! Having Mullet-Head Melrose pick the Quacks is most amusing! See you next year! FinWing 26 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Thank you Shark fans, it was a hell of a series and I was nervous right up until the last buzzer. It was good, hard-fought hockey without the cheap-shotting element unlike the CGY series. You've got a great team and a lot to look forward to. Keep coming back here and offering your insight on hockey.
Winged Scooter 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 I'll be having Peking Duck here tonight. Deelish when prepared right, and there's a resaurant here in Wuxi that does just that. Grypho, you guys were most definetly classy & knowledagble, I would hope the Ducks fans could compare, but looking at one the other threads in the forum , well I am starting to see some raging stupidity already unfortunately! Thanks again, and I hope that isn't the rule in this series. Hopefully you'll get some class Duck fans in here to set the tempo and ride herd on the more snot-sleeved trash-talkers who have no real appreciation for the sport, let alone sportsmanship. Plus, I think Matt and the mods here do a pretty good job of keeping the garden weeded, so there's always that.

uncle ovipositor 6 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 But I personally dislike Pronger. I admire and respect his skills and talent, don't get me wrong, but he's always been a crybaby to me, a bad sport for the most part, and I must confess that I do enjoy seeing his cage get rattled. All personal, no business. I feel the same way. He's got a lot of talent, but he puts in so many cheap shots and gets away with them. Any time he's outskated he takes shots at the oponents ribcage with the butt of his stick. Any time he's checking someone in the corner who's getting the better of him he knees them. If he'd just play the game he'd be great, it's the little extra bits that make me dislike him. Plus he never gets tired. I wouldn't be surprised to see him play a whole game. On the other hand, I DO NOT feel that was about Teemu Selanne. I like him very much. I liked him most when Ron Wilson called him on his stick being too big. Then he missed his shot in the shoot-out because he didn't even have a regulation stick on the bench. Then he blamed it on the ice being too bad to play on and implied that Wilson was a jerk for calling him on it. It was one of his prissier moments, and worth a laugh. I haven't been wowed by much of what I've seen from him this season. Sounds good. Think you guys could spot us Big Joe? I think he's suspended.

Covenant 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 D13, great posts all series long. The Wings were the better team, like after the midway point of Game 3 that is. Thanks for the well-wishes, we're going to need them.. the Ducks are going to be a major pain in the ass. But Kudos to all of the Sharks fans here (minus 'you-know-who'), you've been well-informed and non-inflammatory.
Pucker 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 I have to say through this playoff series, I have come to appreciate the SJ Sharks team. Good speed, good tallent, well coached, and physical (without being cheap shot artists). IMO, it was the best hockey I have seen in quite some time.
wingsgirl001 983 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Thanks for the kind words guys, you've all been great! I hope you stick around for the rest of the playoffs. We've had our fill of seafood, now it's time for some roast Duck!
formica 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Congratulations to you and your Red Wings. As was the overtime game against Edmonton last year, so will I look back at Game 4 and that game tying goal with 33 seconds left and wonder what could have been. I wanted to specifically note that I was grateful to see both the Sharks and the Red Wings play clean hockey for all six games. Your team and their coaching staff are to be commended for staying classy all the way to the end. Thank you also to the Wings folks who came over to the feeder to talk hockey. The vast majority of you were a pleasure to interact with. Now go kick the Duck's ass. I don't want the first California Cup winners to be in Orange County. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a hangover to nurse
drwscc 212 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 I have to agree with what everyone else is saying in this thread. It's nice to have some opposition fans on the boards to give a bit pf perspective, as long as they're not wearing their homer glasses and know what they're talking about. Big Props to our Shark Fan brethren for being awesome opposition fans. We got spoiled by you guys, so the "Ducks are r0XX0rz. Pronger is the ownz0rz! LOLWTFLMAOBBQ!!!!!111oneeleven" posts were a shock to me when I got here this morning.

Zion 93 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 This is a bittersweet victory for my wife and I. I love the Wings and like the Sharks. She loves the Sharks and likes the Wings. We both wanted to play Dallas in the 2nd round and let SJ and Anaheim battle it out (a great rivalry, by the way) and then play the winner. It's too bad it turned out this way. I personally didn't think the Wings could beat the Sharks, and if they did that they would be too beat up to handle those bums over in Anaheim, who have had a ridiculously EASY schedule. Now I think the Wings stand a good chance if they can stay healthy. The Mathieu Schneider loss will prove bigger in this upcoming series. Don't worry, Sharks fans, you have a GREAT team for years to come. Now, GO RED WINGS!!!
