Ducks series

Recommended Posts

This series will come down to personal battles on the ice and I see the biggest 2 will be down to keeping

the rejuvenated Teemu off the scoresheet and nulifying the inlfuence of Pronger. This is where the signing

of Bert hopefully will pay off. He is due a big series and I hope that its this one. Bert isn't going to log the

ice that Pronger is but when he is out there with him I hope he lets the blueliner know he ain't at no ice dance

and gets him hurrying his plays. A Pronger with time on the puck will hurt ya, lets not give him that luxury. In

the Selanne case, plain and simple, Markov has to check the crap out of him. With no Kronner it'll be down to

Dani to stop the Finnish flash. Maybe the Pain train could help out as he sure has upped his play in the post

season thats for sure. There will be many battles out there, but if the Wings can win these 2 we'll have a great

chance in this series, I love the fact that most of the press have written us off before the first puck is dropped.

The Ducks may have a better top 2 lines but our depth on the 4 forward lines could just tip the balance, lets hope

our patched up D can repeat the last 2 performance's. Cheli is a freak, the dude is just awesome.

Imagining .... Bertuzzi runs and pastes Pronger's face to the end boards and hell, actually smashes him THROUGH the f*n glass ...

I hope you're right and Bertuzzi shows up BIG in this series. Physically he is a MONSTER and here's hoping he'll wipe that smirk off Pronger's face. Pronger is a sissy and Bertuzzi would do well to set the tone early in Game #1. Punish them!!

You know, I am sure you put some thought into this post and you want people to read it and focus on it and pay attention and respond, but not everyone who wants to start a thread should.

I was just thinking about this, actually. In order for the Wings to win this series, I really feel they are going to need Bertuzzi to be huge for them...in more ways than one. So far, people have more or less written Bertuzzi off in the playoffs. Think about it. How many analysts have you heard mention Bertuzzi as being a factor against the Ducks? Not many. Its almost as if everyone has forgotten he is a Red Wing.

Luckily for us, hes only been getting better, and his physical presence has really become a bigger factor each game so far. I think Babcock mentioned something to Bert about how Detroit needs him to be more of a power forward and less of a skilled guy, and ever since he and Babs had that talk, Bert has picked it up physically. I have a feeling this is going to be his biggest series so far.

Agreed! My previous post was just to get Bert's attention - yknow every Red Wing drops by LGW.com now and then.

If there's one thing Bertuzzi can bring right now it's his punishing checks. I hope he's still game, cause it would make a huge difference in this series.

It's a stretch to think that he will. I'm getting the feeling he's playing cautious, and it's been that way ever seen he collided with Osgood.

Damn you Ozzie! Heh, just kidding. :P

im really liking what im seeing out of Bertuzzi the last few games of the SJ series.

he just looks to be playing more physical and driving to the net (that move he made during game six WOW!)

he seems to be coming along IMO.

ps. kenny: re-sign him!

i know people have kinda harped on him for some games in the play-offs, but i really think there's a lot of good to come from Bertuzzi being on the Red Wings.

Yeah, I would really like to see Bertuizz with a full season of games under his belt, I still get the feeling that he isn't in his peak playing shape

The Wings will look to Bertuzzi to wear people down, no doubt, but I think that duty falls mostly on the collective shoulders of our checking line (as it always does).

I have a feeling that Malts, Drapes, and Cleary are going to be the difference-makers in this series.

The big IF

1) IF Bert is plays to his physical capacity and frustrates Pronger, he WILL put the wings on an infinite # of power plays. That alone could be the difference. When Pronger plays pissed, he is ineffective and s***ty. See St. Louis vs Detroit playoffs from 1996 to 2003.

I think that detroits advantage will be their ability to cycle well. I think the ducks strength is in playing a physical game down low and while Bertuzzi is a load,Beuchemin and Pronger would rather see that side then the puckhandling skill of Detroit. I'm eager to see how the matchups play out as the first line change is gonna be huge for both clubs. I think if detroit tries to cater their game to the physical side of things, they're gonna take away from their skill players and that could prove to be a mistake. Can't wait for friday all the speculation will be gone.

Pronger's a sissy. I'll take any one of our checkers to crash and bang with him. But if Bert would nail him a few times, geez what a bonus. GO BERTUZZI !!

I think everyone should bear in mind that we got Bert for next to nothing for a reason [/runon sentence].

That is, Florida dealt him to us at a bargain-bin price because his back was hurt. Therefore, don't feel shortchanged if he doesn't look 100%.

Bertuzzi is a bum, dont expect to much from him

C'mon Steve. Time to let it go.

Bert's play against Pronger will be huge in this series. If Bert can punish Pronger, it will open things up immensely all over the ice. This buddies up with my analysis in the "stepping up" thread.

We All know you hate him. Enough! I mean, I am no Bert fan by any stretch. I live in BC as well, and for seemingly too long I had to put up with crap attitude and s***ty interviews and incosistant play. However, he is a member of our team now. That doesn't mean I automatically like the guy, or forgive him for all he has done. But as a Red Wing I wish him my best and will cheer will he is on the ice.

I am (as my account suggests) relativily young on LGW's. Nearing a year. And I am definatley not a mod. So you are free to express your opinion whenever and however you like. But come on. Every single time a thread or post even mentions Bertuzzi you have to chime in with some useless comment about his attitude, game, play, past, etc. How about this, edit your signature ... proclaim you dont like him, and let that be that.

I loved seeing Bert in round 1 gettin' up against Dion. I didnt see it so much in Round 2, but would love to see it again in Round 3. He has all the potential in the world, someone jsut has to awaken the beast.
