Who do you think Hasek would want to face?

Knocking on wood of course...if the Wings advanced to the SCF, which of the two teams that Hasek formerly played on do you think he wants to face, or who do you want to see him face if the Wings advance?

Buffalo - He obviously did just about everything there humanly possible to help make Sabre teams competitve and try to make deep playoff runs. 6 Vezina trophies during his long time there, and almost a Stanley Cup when most Sabre teams where offensively challenged when he was there.

Ottawa - The place where he tried to rejuvinate his career after things didn't work so smoothly in Detroit in 2003-04 with the 3-ring goalie circus. He was kicking butt in early and mid-season, but he got injured long-term and left Ottawa fans with a bad taste in their mouth IMO.

I'm betting Ottawa fans would be very happy if they were to see the Senators (if they make it to the SCF of course) to see their former 'tender and beat them due to how distractions resulted from the injury.

However, I'm going to go with Buffalo. All the history and things that Hasek accomplished there, I think if the Wings and the Sabres would be able to advance, he'd be really motivated to win against the team where he established a great career in.

Debate!

I think hasek would want to face buffalo probably because of the history. but maybe ottawa to prove that he stil had it and they shouldn't have let him go. i know ottawa fans would love to get their hands on hasek tho lol

I think Dom would relish facing either team. He's a confidant man and he would be in the biggest challenge of his life. I hope the Wings get the chance to play in the finals. As a fan I would rather we play Buffalo because they ended up as the top NHL team this regular season, and I think we can out play them, Ottowa, on the other hand, looks mighty dangerous. Howerver it goes, this playoff season has been quite exciting and promises to be so till the very end.

Iwas reading the B S board the other day before the start of their series with the Sens and they was allready picking who the were going to play in the finals.Well needless to say that they jumped the gun maybe.I know they still have a lot of hockey to play but their in bad shap losing two at home. Now they have to face the Sens at home.

I say that Dom is not looking past the Ducks at all,I know I'm not.

I'm betting he doesn't care, as long as he manages to get that far!

But as far as I go, I'd raher see him play against the Sens. He played there recently enough to have a little inside knowledge on their skaters, and he'd love to shut Ottawa up by beating them in the biggest series of that franchise's history.

He just wants the cup. He doesn't care.

agreed

id personally rather have ottawa if we make it to the finals (knock on wood lol ) , i dont trust ray emery , i dont think hes anywhere near as good as ppl are saying .......buffalo should of own that game , they had a goal that shouldnt of been disallowed that would of made it 3-0 before ottawa even scored .......plus as good as they have been playing most of the offense keeps coming from the spezza line ...i think we can shut them down or at the very least slow them down , which then forces ottawa's 3 other lines to beat us , ottawa has 4 strong lnes that can score .......for whatever reason there not winning now, otttawa has their number, even during the regular season they beat the sabres

Hasek would not want to face either team. Ottawa has perhaps the biggest sniper in the game in Dany Heatley whereas Buffalo has the most offensive depth in the NHL, either way, he'd face some tough shots.

However, when it comes to the Wings as a whole, notably Holmstrom, they'll want to face the Sens. Why? Ray Emery gives up so many rebounds, meaning great treats for Homer.

From Dom's perspective, I doubt that he cares. He is a better goalie than Emery (and Ray knows it) and Miller. I can't imagine anyone questions Hasek at this point.

The rest of the team should be worried, however, about either Buffalo or Ottawa. Either team can score basically at will, tallying 5 or 6 goals per game with what appears to be very little effort, whereas the Wings cannot consistently offer up the offense when it's needed.

I say get past the Ducks offense before we worry about Sens or Sabs. Dom has been consistent, with 2 or fewer goals per game, but the Wings' offense has to come through if fluke goals or unstoppable shots occur. I worry a lot more goal production than I do Dom vs. any other goalie in the NHL.

Oh wow. It didn't even occur to me that they were his 2 former clubs. I actually was thinking...well Ottawa, and forgot about Buffalo of all places.

Hmm. I think it doesn't matter because he doesn't have to score on their goaltenders respectively, and I think he's good enough to stop their forwards.

Interesting though, still.

In Buffalo he was THE MAN, in Ottawa he was chased out as quitter. It would be extra sweat if he were to face Sens and win Stanley Cup and possibly Conn Smyth over them.

But seriously what Hasek probably wants at this point is to face any of those team next round. Ducks are formidable foes.
